What is the Magewell Ultra Encode AIO streaming encoder?

The Magewell Ultra Encode AIO is a rack-mountable 4K streaming encoder and recorder with both HDMI and 6G-SDI inputs, built for permanent installs where one box has to handle either a camera or a presentation source. It encodes H.264, H.265, NDI HX2 and NDI HX3 at up to 4096×2160 30p and streams to up to six destinations at once over RTMPS, SRT, RTSP, HLS, RIST, WHIP and more, while recording to SD, USB or network storage. In commercial AV it is the encoder of choice for auditoriums, council chambers and event spaces that need streaming, recording and control from a single rack unit.

How does the Magewell Ultra Encode AIO work?

The AIO has an HDMI input with loop-through that accepts HDMI 1.4a or DVI-D sources up to 4K60, and a 6G-SDI input with BNC loop-through that accepts SD through 6G-SDI up to 4K30. Each input passes its signal on to a local display or the next device in the chain, so the encoder can sit inline without disturbing the room. Audio comes from 16 channels of SDI embedded audio, 8 channels of HDMI embedded audio or the 3.5 mm line input, and can be mapped into up to eight AAC streams or a two-channel Opus stream. A main stream and an optional sub stream are encoded together for high- and low-bitrate destinations, and native CEA-608 captions are carried from SDI sources.

Live streaming supports native YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, WOWZA and Zixi destinations, plus RTMP/RTMPS, SRT caller and listener with AES encryption, RTSP, HLS, MPEG-TS over UDP/RTP, TVU ISSP, RIST and WHIP. Recording runs in parallel to an SD card, USB drive or NAS in MP4, MOV or TS, with automatic upload to FTP, Google Drive, OneDrive, Panopto or Dropbox, and schedules run streams and recordings unattended. A 1.9-inch front-panel LCD shows a preview, audio meters, stream and record status and the IP address, and can start or stop sessions locally.

The AIO powers from PoE+ (802.3at) or its locking DC supply, connects by Gigabit Ethernet or Wi-Fi with a USB 4G/5G modem option, and ships with ears for a 1U rack, including mounting two units side by side. It is managed in a browser, through Magewell Control Hub or Zixi ZEN Master, with Stream Deck, and through an API so a room control system can start and stop streaming from a touch panel.
