Product Overview

The Listen Technologies LWS-16B-W1 is a complete two-channel ListenWIFI assistive listening system supplied with 16 Wi-Fi audio receivers. It bundles the server, receivers and listening accessories a venue needs to meet an ADA assistive listening obligation over its existing wireless network, rather than requiring a separate RF or infrared distribution layer. The 16-receiver count suits a venue sizing its fleet against seat count. Specifying a system rather than assembling components removes the risk of a missing accessory at commissioning.

Product Description

Assistive listening obligations are usually expressed as a receiver count derived from seating capacity, which is why Listen packages these systems by receiver quantity rather than by room type.

Listen Technologies LWS-16B-W1 ListenWIFI system with 16 receivers

This configuration provides two audio channels and 16 LWR-1050 receivers. Two channels covers a main programme feed plus one interpretation or audio description channel, which is the common requirement outside multilingual venues. Balanced analog inputs take the feed from a mixer or DSP output.

Each receiver runs dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n with 20 Hz to 20 kHz ±1dB audio and seven hours of continuous streaming from a field replaceable battery. Latency across the system is 40 to 60 ms depending on network, traffic and QoS, which makes the wireless design a shared responsibility between the AV integrator and the network team.

Additional receivers are ordered separately as LWR-1050 units where the fleet needs expanding beyond the bundled quantity. Signage is a compliance requirement: the hearing assistance signage and venue awareness kit cover it. A replacement server power supply is stocked separately.

Key Features

  • 16 receivers included — Ships with a receiver fleet sized for a venue meeting an ADA obligation from seat count.
  • Two audio channels — Carries a main programme feed plus one interpretation or audio description channel.
  • Balanced analog inputs — Takes the feed directly from a mixer or DSP output.
  • Runs on existing Wi-Fi — Avoids the dedicated transmitter and antenna infrastructure an RF system requires.
  • 500 concurrent listeners — Server capacity extends well beyond the bundled receiver count as demand grows.
  • 20 Hz – 20 kHz ±1dB audio — Delivers full-range quality rather than the narrowband typical of legacy assistive listening.
  • Field replaceable receiver batteries — Keeps the circulating fleet serviceable across a multi-year deployment.
  • Complete system supply — Server, receivers and accessories arrive together, removing missing-part risk at commissioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many receivers does my venue need?
ADA receiver counts are derived from seating capacity, not room area. Confirm the required quantity against the applicable code before choosing a system size; additional LWR-1050 receivers can be added to any system.

What does the venue network need to provide?
Managed Wi-Fi across the listening area with QoS configured for the audio stream, and a gigabit connection to the server. System latency of 40 to 60 ms is dependent on network, traffic and QoS.

Can patrons use their own phones as well?
Yes. Server capacity is 500 concurrent listening devices regardless of whether those are venue receivers or personal phones, so patron devices do not displace the issued fleet.

Can it take a networked audio feed?
This configuration uses balanced analog inputs. Dante variants are available where the feed should come from the audio network.

How is the system commissioned?
Server configuration, channel assignment and receiver provisioning, followed by coverage verification across the listening area. The wireless survey is the step most often underestimated.

What rack space does the server need?
1RU with rack ears included.

What warranty and support apply?
Listen Technologies specifies a 2 year warranty on the server and receivers. Contact Creation Networks for current terms, RMA handling and pre-sales design support.
