Product Description
Ear cushions do two jobs. Acoustically they seal against the head, which is what delivers the isolation the headset is rated for. Practically they are the part that touches the user.
Both degrade. A compressed cushion no longer seals, so the attenuation quietly falls below the rated figure and the wearer compensates by raising volume rather than reporting a fault. On shared headsets there is a hygiene dimension as well, which is why replacement runs on a schedule rather than on failure.
