The Listen Technologies ACDB25100 is a 100m reel of 2.5mm² direct burial cable for hearing loop runs installed below grade or set into screed. Standard loop cable is not rated for permanent burial, and a loop conductor cast into a floor slab is not something anyone will replace. Direct burial construction is what makes that installation method viable over the life of the building.

Hearing loop conductors are often installed during construction rather than fit-out, run in screed or beneath a floor finish where they are permanently inaccessible.

That places a durability requirement on the cable that ordinary loop conductor does not meet. Direct burial construction resists moisture ingress and the mechanical stress of being cast into a floor. At 2.5mm² the conductor also carries the current a perimeter loop driver delivers without excessive resistance over a long run.

Order by the reel against the calculated run length, allowing for the drop back to the driver position. Where the loop transitions from buried to surface-run, protect the exposed section with PVC protective extrusion. Commissioning still requires field strength measurement against IEC 60118-4 using a field strength meter — burial does not change the certification requirement, and it does make remedial work expensive, so the loop design should be confirmed before pour.
