Product Overview
The Lightware MX2-24x24-HDMI20 is the entry-level configuration of the 24x24 standalone HDMI 2.0 matrix switcher family, providing full 4K UHD 60Hz 4:4:4 routing across 24 inputs and 24 outputs without the cost premium of analog audio ports or redundant power hardware. It is the appropriate choice for fixed installations in large meeting rooms, presentation facilities, and data centers where signal count is the primary driver and audio embedding and power redundancy are handled by separate system components. The switcher operates at 18 Gbps per port with zero frame latency and includes Lightware's Advanced EDID Management and Pixel Accurate Reclocking as standard features, accessible via the built-in web interface.
Product Description
The MX2-24x24-HDMI20 uses a non-blocking 24x24 crosspoint at 18 Gbps per port, passing 4K UHD at 60Hz in full 4:4:4 uncompressed format on all 48 ports. All HDMI 2.0, 1.4, and DVI 1.0 sources are accepted natively. The unit supports HDMI 5K formats (5120x2160 at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0), HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and 3D. Control interfaces include Ethernet (RJ45), RS-232 (3-pole Phoenix), and USB. Power is supplied via a standard IEC connector with optional redundant power supply upgrade. At 4RU with removable rack ears, the unit installs in standard 19-inch racks. Front-panel keys provide direct crosspoint switching without software.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between this model and the MX2-24x24-HDMI20-Audio?
- The MX2-24x24-HDMI20-Audio adds 8 stereo analog audio input ports and 8 stereo analog audio output ports (5-pole Phoenix) for embedding and de-embedding analog audio independently of the HDMI video routing. This base model handles only HDMI-embedded audio.
- Can I add power redundancy to this unit later?
- The MX2-24x24-HDMI20 supports an optional second power supply. For built-in dual redundant power with rugged Neutrik connectors from the factory, specify the MX2-24x24-HDMI20-R.
- Does this unit support DVI sources?
- Yes. The unit is HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4, and DVI 1.0 compatible. DVI sources connect via HDMI-to-DVI adapters; the signal is handled natively.
- How does the built-in EDID management work?
- Advanced EDID Management stores 100+ factory-preset and user-defined EDID profiles. Each input port can be assigned a specific EDID independently, preventing sources from downgrading their output resolution when a display is switched or disconnected.
- What is the Frame Detector feature?
- Frame Detector is a proprietary Lightware technology that reads and displays the exact video format on each input—timing, frequency, scan mode, HDCP status, color space, and audio sample rate—without impacting the signal. It is accessible via the built-in web interface and is the primary tool for signal troubleshooting.
