Product Overview

The Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97-US is a US-style single-gang wallplate TPS transmitter that accepts HDMI 4K input from a local source device and extends it over a single CATx cable to a compatible Lightware TPS receiver up to 100 meters away. Designed for installations where a dual-gang plate is not needed, the US single-gang format provides a lower-profile presenter connection point at podiums, conference tables, and wall-mount AV access points. Like the FP-8AT variant, it carries HDCP 2.2-compliant video, bidirectional Ethernet, RS-232, and IR, and accepts PoE from the paired receiver.

Product Description

Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97-US front view

The TX97-US variant shares the same TPS signal processing and feature set as the TX97-FP-8AT but is housed in a standard US single-gang wallplate body without the screw-terminal audio input. The single-gang format allows installation in wall boxes where space is limited or where the dual-gang profile would be visually inconsistent with surrounding faceplates. It is powered from the receiver end via PoE, so no local power wiring is required at the transmitter location.

For AV integrators standardizing on a single-gang form factor across a project, the TX97-US pairs directly with the WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97 receiver series. All control signals — RS-232 and IR — traverse the same CATx cable, eliminating additional control wiring between the presenter position and display.

Key Features

  • HDMI 2.0 input up to 4K60 with HDCP 2.2
  • TPS (HDBaseT-based) output over single CATx cable up to 100 m
  • PoE input — powered from paired receiver over the CATx cable
  • Bidirectional 100Base-T Ethernet pass-through
  • RS-232 and IR pass-through for control signal extension
  • US standard single-gang wallplate form factor
  • No local power supply required at the transmitter end
  • Compatible with all Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97 receivers

Typical Applications

  • Conference room table HDMI connection point in single-gang format
  • Presenter podium input plate feeding a rear-of-room projector or display
  • Huddle space wallplate where space constraints prevent dual-gang installs
  • Open-plan office meeting areas with wall-mounted AV inputs
  • Hotel meeting room AV where single-gang plates match room aesthetics
  • Classroom instructor position feeding a distance-learning display system

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the TX97-US and the TX97-FP-8AT?
The TX97-US is a US single-gang wallplate without analog audio input. The TX97-FP-8AT is a dual-gang decora plate that adds screw-terminal analog audio inputs for microphone or line-level sources. Both share the same HDMI, TPS, PoE, Ethernet, RS-232, and IR feature set.
Does the TX97-US require a local power supply?
No. The transmitter is powered entirely from the paired receiver over the CATx cable via PoE (IEEE 802.3at). No AC outlet or power brick is needed at the transmitter location.
Which receiver is compatible with the TX97-US?
The WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97-US is designed for use with the Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97 series receivers, including the RX97-FP-8AT. Both are available at Creation Networks.
Can the transmitter be installed in a floor box?
Yes. The single-gang form factor fits standard single-gang floor-box modules. Since it is PoE-powered from the receiver, no electrical outlet in the floor box is required for the AV portion of the installation.
What is the maximum cable run at 4K resolution?
Up to 100 meters on Cat6a. Cat6 supports approximately 70–80 meters at 4K. For 1080p content, Cat5e can reach 100 meters, but Cat6a is always the preferred choice for new installations targeting longevity and 4K performance.
