Product Overview
The Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97-FP-8AT is a wallplate-format HDBaseT TPS transmitter that accepts an HDMI 4K source at the presenter or source location and extends it over a single CATx cable to a remote receiver. The dual-gang US decora face plate form factor mounts flush into a standard wall box, providing a clean finish at podiums, conference tables, and presentation walls. It supports HDCP 2.2, carries bidirectional Ethernet and control signals, and can be PoE-powered from the paired receiver, eliminating local power wiring at the source end.
Available at Creation Networks with authorized Lightware warranty and pre-sales engineering.
Product Description

The TX97-FP-8AT is installed at the source end of a TPS extension run. A presenter connects their laptop or device to the HDMI input on the wallplate face, and the signal travels across the existing Cat cable infrastructure to the matched RX97 receiver at the display. HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures content-protected sources and displays work without handshake issues. The screw-terminal microphone/line input on the 8AT variant allows an analog audio source to be injected at the transmitter and carried to the receiver alongside the HDMI audio.

PoE input from the receiver means the TX97-FP-8AT does not need a local AC outlet. This is particularly valuable in furniture-integrated AV, floor boxes, and conference table installs where adding electrical service is a significant additional cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which receiver pairs with the WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97-FP-8AT?
- The paired receiver is the Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97-FP-8AT. Both units are available at Creation Networks. For installations requiring a rack-mount receiver, Lightware offers compatible 1U TPS receiver units in the same product family.
- Does this transmitter need its own power supply?
- No. The TX97-FP-8AT is powered entirely via PoE from the RX97 receiver over the CATx cable. No local power supply or outlet is required at the transmitter end, which significantly simplifies furniture and floor-box installations.
- What cable type is required?
- Cat6a is recommended for 100-meter runs at 4K. Cat6 supports approximately 70–80 meters at 4K resolution. For 1080p content, Cat5e can support the full 100 meters, but Cat6a is always preferred for future-proofing.
- Can I use this transmitter with a non-Lightware receiver?
- The TX97 uses Lightware TPS technology based on HDBaseT. Cross-brand compatibility with third-party HDBaseT receivers depends on the specific implementation details of each device. For guaranteed signal integrity and PoE operation, Lightware recommends using matched Lightware transmitter-receiver pairs.
- What is the screw-terminal audio input used for?
- The 8AT designation includes screw-terminal analog audio inputs that allow a microphone or line-level audio source to be inserted at the transmitter location and carried to the receiver. This is useful in conference rooms where a table microphone connects at the presenter position and feeds into a ceiling speaker system or room audio DSP via the receiver.
