Product Overview
The Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97-FP-8AT is a wallplate-format HDBaseT TPS receiver that delivers HDMI 4K video, embedded audio, Ethernet, and control signals from a remote transmitter over a single CATx cable at distances up to 100 meters. The FP (Face Plate) form factor mounts directly into a standard wall box, and the integrated PoE capability means the connected transmitter can be powered from this receiver unit, eliminating a local power supply at the source end. The 8AT suffix denotes the dual-gang US decora plate style with screw-terminal audio output.

Product Description

The RX97 receiver terminates at the display end of a TPS (Twisted Pair Signal) extension run. It connects to an HDMI display, projector, or AV receiver and accepts a CATx cable from a paired Lightware TPS transmitter. All signals — 4K HDMI video, HDCP 2.2, bidirectional Ethernet, RS-232, and IR — are carried on that single cable. The wallplate design is particularly valued in room renovation projects where cable infrastructure exists but wall boxes need AV connectivity without visible box hardware.

The integrated PoE output on the RX97 can power a compatible TPS transmitter at the far end, meaning only the display-side requires AC power. This simplifies wiring in lecterns, floor boxes, and furniture-mounted AV where adding a power outlet is not practical.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which transmitter is paired with the WP-HDMI-TPS-RX97-FP-8AT?
- It is designed to work with Lightware WP-HDMI-TPS-TX97 series transmitters. The TX97-FP-8AT and TX97-US models are the typical wallplate transmitter counterparts. Contact Creation Networks to specify the correct TX model for your project.
- What cable category is required for 100-meter runs?
- Cat6a is recommended for maximum 100-meter extension. Cat6 will typically support 70–80 meters at 4K resolution. Lower resolutions may extend further on Cat5e, but Cat6a is the safest choice for new installations.
- Does the receiver power the transmitter automatically?
- Yes. The RX97-FP-8AT provides PoE to the CATx cable and a compatible TPS transmitter draws power from it automatically. No separate power supply is needed at the transmitter end, which simplifies in-wall and furniture installations.
- Can this receiver be used with a third-party HDBaseT transmitter?
- The unit uses Lightware's TPS technology, which is based on HDBaseT. Compatibility with third-party HDBaseT devices depends on the specific implementation. For guaranteed performance, Lightware recommends using matched Lightware transmitters and receivers within the same product line.
- Does the analog audio output work independently of the HDMI output?
- Yes. The screw-terminal analog audio output carries the de-embedded audio from the HDMI stream and operates whether or not an HDMI display is connected, making it suitable for driving ceiling speakers independently.
