Product Overview
The Lightware VINX-110-HDMI-DEC is an AV-over-IP decoder designed for professional distributed video environments. It receives compressed H.264 video streams over standard 1GbE or 10GbE IP networks and outputs HDMI 2.0 up to 4K@60Hz. The unit integrates USB keyboard and mouse (K+M) extension, bidirectional RS-232, and IR control — making it a complete endpoint for enterprise AV distribution, control rooms, and digital signage deployments. Sold and supported through Creation Networks.
Product Description

The VINX-110-HDMI-DEC operates as the receive endpoint in the Lightware VINX AV-over-IP ecosystem. It decodes H.264-compressed streams from any VINX encoder or compatible source on a standard IP network, with built-in scaling to match the native resolution of the connected display. The decoder supports simultaneous video, audio, USB HID, RS-232, and IR over a single Ethernet connection — eliminating the need for separate control runs. Configuration and monitoring are handled via the Lightware Device Controller software or the device's built-in web interface.
Key Features
- HDMI 2.0 output up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) with integrated scaling
- H.264 video compression over standard 1GbE / 10GbE IP networks
- USB keyboard and mouse (K+M) extension — no additional USB extender required
- Bidirectional RS-232 serial pass-through for display and device control
- Bidirectional IR control pass-through
- Supports unicast and multicast distribution
- Built-in web interface and Lightware Device Controller software compatibility
- Low-latency mode available for interactive applications
- PoE powered (IEEE 802.3at) — no separate power supply required in most installations
- Compatible with Lightware VINX-120-HDMI-ENC encoders and the broader VINX matrix ecosystem
Typical Applications
- Corporate AV distribution — boardrooms, huddle rooms, and executive suites receiving content from central sources
- University lecture capture and playback systems
- Control room video wall endpoints receiving feeds from encoders at remote locations

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the VINX-110-HDMI-DEC work with any H.264 IP encoder, or only Lightware encoders?
- It is designed and validated to work with Lightware VINX-120-HDMI-ENC encoders. Third-party H.264 stream compatibility depends on the encoding profile and network transport — contact Creation Networks for interoperability assessment before deploying with non-Lightware sources.
- Can multiple decoders receive the same encoder stream simultaneously?
- Yes. The VINX system supports multicast distribution, allowing a single encoder stream to be received by multiple VINX-110-HDMI-DEC decoders simultaneously without multiplying network bandwidth proportionally.
- What switch infrastructure is required?
- A managed Gigabit Ethernet switch with IGMP snooping support is required for multicast deployments. For unicast point-to-point connections, any 1GbE switch is sufficient. For 10GbE operation, a 10GbE-capable switch port is required at the decoder.
- Does the decoder support video wall tiling?
- The VINX-110-HDMI-DEC is a single-output endpoint. Video wall configurations require a dedicated video wall processor or a multi-output Lightware product. Contact Creation Networks to discuss the correct architecture for your project.
- How is the decoder configured and managed?
- Configuration is performed via the built-in web interface (accessible by browser over the same IP network) or through Lightware Device Controller software. Both provide status monitoring, input selection, resolution scaling control, and network settings.
- What is included in the box?
- The VINX-110-HDMI-DEC ships with the decoder unit, power supply (where applicable), and mounting hardware. A separate Ethernet cable is required. Contact Creation Networks for accessory recommendations.
