Product Overview

The Lightware DCX-3x1-TPX-TX10 is a USB-C and HDMI transmitter switcher built for the AV-over-IP ecosystem using SDVoE technology. It accepts two HDMI 2.0 inputs and one USB-C input (DisplayPort Alt Mode), switches among them, and transmits video, audio, USB 2.0, RS-232, and Ethernet over a single 10GBase-T Ethernet link to compatible TPX receivers at distances up to 100 m. USB-C power delivery up to 100W allows a connected laptop to charge simultaneously — removing the need for a separate power adapter at the table.

Product Description

The DCX-3x1-TPX-TX10 consolidates the presenter connectivity functions typically requiring multiple devices — switcher, extender, USB hub, and charger — into a single compact unit suitable for deployment at a conference table, lectern, or media plate position. The USB-C input accepts DisplayPort 1.2a signals from laptops and workstations, while the two HDMI 2.0 inputs handle dedicated sources, codecs, or additional laptops up to 4096x2160@60Hz at 4:4:4 color with 18 Gbps throughput.

The TPX output transmits the consolidated signal bundle — video, embedded audio, USB 2.0, RS-232, and Ethernet — over a single CAT6A or better cable to a TPX receiver, eliminating the need to run dedicated USB or control cabling alongside the video path. An integrated SDVoE Control Server manages signal distribution within 10G network environments. A local HDMI output on the transmitter provides a monitor loop for the presenter. The unit is powered by an external 160W supply and uses an internal BR1632A battery for configuration retention. Pixel Accurate Reclocking on the HDMI inputs eliminates source jitter before transmission.

Key Features

  • 3-input switching — 1x USB-C (DP 1.2a) and 2x HDMI 2.0 inputs selectable at the transmitter
  • USB-C 100W charging — powers connected laptops via the USB-C input simultaneously with video and data transmission
  • Single-cable TPX output — transmits video, audio, USB 2.0, RS-232, and Ethernet over one 10GBase-T RJ45 connection up to 100 m
  • 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 support — full 4096x2160@60Hz RGB 4:4:4 on USB-C and HDMI inputs, up to 600 MHz pixel clock
  • HDCP 2.3 on TPX output — HDCP 1.4 and 2.2 on video inputs; HDCP 2.3 transmitted over the network link
  • Integrated SDVoE Control Server — manages AV-over-IP signal routing without a separate control device
  • Pixel Accurate Reclocking — removes jitter and skew from HDMI input sources before network transmission
  • Analog audio output — 5-pole Phoenix connector, 2-ch PCM at 48 kHz, -95.62 to 0 dB volume range
  • GPIO control — 8-pole Phoenix with 6 configurable input/output pins, 5V output pin, and ground
  • RS-232 pass-through — 3-pole Phoenix, 9600–115200 baud, with full RS-232 voltage levels
  • Compact 1U-height form factor — 271 x 140.3 x 26 mm, desktop or shelf installation

Typical Applications

  • Conference rooms with BYOD presentation from USB-C laptops requiring simultaneous video, USB, and charging
  • 10G SDVoE AV-over-IP system endpoints for enterprise and higher-education AV networks
  • Boardrooms with multiple source types (laptop, codec, media player) at a single presenter position
  • Lecture theaters and auditoriums with remote display locations over installed network infrastructure
  • Systems requiring USB 2.0 device extension (cameras, microphones, touch panels) to a remote receiver over the same cable as video

Frequently Asked Questions

What receiver is required on the far end of the TPX link?
The DCX-3x1-TPX-TX10 is compatible with Lightware TPX receiver devices, including the HDMI-TPN-RX107AU2K-SR and similar TPX series units. Confirm receiver compatibility with the specific signal types and USB modes required for your installation before ordering.
Can the USB-C port deliver 100W charging while transmitting video?
Yes. The USB-C input simultaneously handles DisplayPort Alt Mode video/audio signal and USB Power Delivery up to 100W. A laptop connected over USB-C can be charged and its display output transmitted to the TPX network without separate power adapter.
Does the unit work in a standard 1G Ethernet environment?
No. The TPX output requires a 10GBase-T network infrastructure. A 10G switch with appropriate SFP+ or RJ45 10G ports must be installed between the TX and RX units. Standard 1G network equipment is not compatible with the 10G SDVoE link.
Can HDCP 2.2 protected content from a laptop be transmitted?
Yes. Both USB-C and HDMI inputs support HDCP 1.4 and 2.2. The TPX output transmits with HDCP 2.3. The receiving display must also support HDCP 2.x for protected content to pass through the full chain.
What USB device types are supported over the TPX link?
The TPX link carries USB 2.0 data. Compatible device classes include audio, video, mass storage, HID, hub, smart card, and vendor-specific devices when using transparent mode. HID-only composite mode is also available. USB 3.0 devices are not supported over the TPX link.
Is this the same product as the UCX-4x2-HC30?
No. The DCX-3x1-TPX-TX10 is a 3-input transmitter switcher designed for TPX (10G) output. The UCX series targets different connectivity profiles. Verify part numbers when comparing Lightware DCX and UCX products for your specific application.
Where can I purchase with pre-sales design assistance?
The DCX-3x1-TPX-TX10 is available at creationnetworks.net. The team can assist with network topology planning, TPX receiver selection, and USB device compatibility verification.
