Purchase at Creation Networks.
Product Description
The UCX-4x3-HC40-BD is the Dante audio bridge variant of the Lightware Taurus UCX HC40 series. It extends the standard UCX HC40 feature set with a native Dante USB Audio Bridge, enabling two-way Dante/AES67 audio over the device's Ethernet port without any external hardware. HDMI stereo embedded audio from any input can be de-embedded and converted to 2-channel Dante streams for distribution to Dante-networked amplifiers, DSPs, or speakers.
The two USB-C inputs each carry 4K video (up to 5120x2160 via HDMI 2.0, or 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 via USB-C DP Alt Mode), audio, USB 3.1 Gen1 data, and up to 100W power delivery over a single cable. The two HDMI 2.0 inputs accept room-resident sources. All three HDMI 2.0 outputs can drive displays or downstream AV devices at up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4.
USB 3.1 Gen1 peripheral switching routes cameras, speakerphones, and touch devices between up to two hosts. A separate control Ethernet port provides isolated device management via SSH, SSL, and HTTPS. Two additional configurable Ethernet ports support room LAN isolation and utility networking. GPIO, RS-232, and an occupancy sensor port enable full room automation. The device uses passive noiseless cooling. It holds the Pro AV Best in Market (AV Technology) Award 2025. A FIPS 140-3 variant (SKU 91360030) is available. Purchase at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need an external Dante gateway or USB-Dante dongle to use the Dante audio features?
- No. The UCX-4x3-HC40-BD includes a native Dante USB Audio Bridge. The device connects directly to a Dante network via its Ethernet port and handles bidirectional 2-channel Dante/AES67 audio conversion internally. No external DSP, gateway, or dongle is required.
- How does Google Meet certification affect deployment?
- Google-certified devices appear in the Google Admin Console, allowing IT administrators to manage the device centrally alongside other Google Meet hardware. This simplifies rollout, monitoring, and firmware management for organizations standardized on Google Workspace.
- Can the device charge two laptops simultaneously at full power?
- Yes. The two USB-C inputs provide up to 100W each, for a combined 120W total power delivery, allowing two connected laptops to charge simultaneously during the meeting.
- What is the difference between the UCX-4x3-HC40-BD and the standard UCX-4x3-HC40?
- The -BD variant adds the integrated Dante USB Audio Bridge capability to the standard UCX-4x3-HC40 feature set. All other video, USB, and control specifications are the same. The -BD is the appropriate choice when the room has Dante microphones, amplifiers, or DSPs that require native Dante audio routing from the switcher.
- Does the UCX-4x3-HC40-BD support Microsoft Teams Rooms?
- Yes. The device is compatible with MTR deployments and supports USB peripheral routing (camera, speakerphone) to a connected Teams Rooms compute device. It is also verified for Google Meet BYOD/BYOM use cases.
- Is the noiseless operation suitable for executive and board-level spaces?
- Yes. The UCX-4x3-HC40-BD uses passive thermal management with no cooling fan, making it acoustically inert. This is explicitly designed for occupied meeting rooms where audible fan noise is unacceptable.
- Where can I purchase the Lightware UCX-4x3-HC40-BD?
