Product Overview
The Lightware UCX-4x2-HC40D is a 4-input, 2-output universal matrix switcher that combines HDMI 2.0 and USB-C connectivity with integrated Dante/AES67 network audio output. Designed for conference rooms and boardrooms requiring both AV matrix switching and professional audio network distribution, it provides meeting participants with BYOD host switching and USB peripheral sharing while simultaneously streaming audio to Dante-enabled DSPs, amplifiers, and processors. Google Meet certified for streamlined deployment in UC-managed environments. Long-tail keywords: Lightware UCX-4x2-HC40D Dante AES67 USB-C HDMI matrix switcher, 4K BYOD conference room switcher with Dante audio network, Google Meet certified AV matrix Dante output.
Product Description
The UCX-4x2-HC40D accepts two USB-C inputs (carrying 4K video, USB 3.1 Gen1 data, and up to 100W charging each) and two HDMI 2.0 inputs, routing any source to two independent HDMI 2.0 outputs. A dedicated Dante/AES67 audio output via 100Base-T Ethernet delivers de-embedded audio directly to professional audio networks without requiring an external Dante interface, keeping the installation clean and reducing infrastructure costs. Four USB-A 3.1 Gen1 peripheral ports share room cameras, speakerphones, and other USB devices among all connected hosts. The device features three independent Ethernet layers for secure control, utility AV, and configurable user data, managed via SSH/SSL/HTTPS through the Lightware Device Controller or LARA automation platform. RS-232, GPIO, and occupancy sensor connectivity enable integration with room control systems. The fanless passive cooling design ensures quiet operation without airflow noise. Remote Syslog output (RFC3164/RFC5424) via TCP, UDP, or TLS enables enterprise SIEM integration.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Dante devices can the UCX-4x2-HC40D connect to directly?
- The Dante/AES67 output connects to any Dante-enabled device on the same network, including DSP processors from QSC, Biamp, Shure, ClearOne, and Symetrix, as well as Dante-enabled amplifiers and mixers.
- Does the device require a separate Dante controller license?
- The Dante output operates within standard Dante network infrastructure. Audinate's Dante Controller software (free) is used to route audio channels to Dante receivers on the network.
- Can both USB-C and HDMI sources be used simultaneously?
- Yes. All four inputs are available simultaneously and any source can be routed to either output independently.
- What is the difference between the UCX-4x2-HC40D and the UCX-4x2-HC40?
- The HC40D adds a dedicated Dante/AES67 audio output port. All other specifications, including video, USB, control, and Ethernet features, are identical.
- Is the UCX-4x2-HC40D available with FIPS 140-3 certified cryptography?
- Yes. The UCX-4x2-HC40D-LCC variant (SKU: 91360028) includes NIST FIPS 140-3 certified Lightware CryptoCore for high-security deployments.
- How does the LARA automation platform work on this device?
- LARA (Lightware Advanced Room Automation) is a built-in scripting engine that allows integrators to configure automated responses to GPIO, occupancy sensor, RS-232, and Ethernet events without an external room control processor.
