Product Overview
The Lightware UCX-4x2-HC40 is a 4-input, 2-output universal matrix switcher that combines HDMI 2.0 and USB-C connectivity for BYOD and BYOM conference room deployments requiring dual-display output and integrated USB peripheral sharing. Google Meet certified, the device functions as a central AV and USB hub for meeting spaces hosting up to 12 participants across up to four connected host devices, with each USB-C port delivering 4K video, USB 3.1 Gen1 data, and up to 100W of device charging over a single cable. Long-tail keywords: Lightware UCX-4x2-HC40 USB-C HDMI 2.0 matrix switcher conference room, 4K BYOD dual display USB-C switcher meeting room, Google Meet certified 4x2 AV matrix USB peripheral sharing.
Product Description
The UCX-4x2-HC40 accepts two USB-C inputs and two HDMI 2.0 inputs, routing any selected source to two independent HDMI 2.0 outputs for dual-display room configurations. USB-C ports carry 4K video at full 18 Gbps, USB 3.1 Gen1 at 5 Gbps, and up to 100W of device charging simultaneously, eliminating the need for a separate laptop charger at the table. Four USB-A 3.1 Gen1 peripheral ports provide shared room camera, speakerphone, and touch display access for any active host. Three independent Ethernet layers — secure control (100Base-T), utility AV (100Base-T), and configurable user data (100Base-T) — keep corporate network traffic, AV control, and room device management physically separated. Device management uses SSH, SSL, and HTTPS via the Lightware Device Controller (LDC) or the LARA room automation platform. RS-232, GPIO, and occupancy sensor ports support integration with room control systems and automated display management. The fanless passive cooling design ensures the unit operates quietly in meeting spaces. Remote Syslog output via TCP, UDP, or TLS (RFC3164/RFC5424) enables enterprise SIEM integration.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the UCX-4x2-HC40 and the UCX-4x3-HC40?
- The UCX-4x3-HC40 adds a third HDMI output, making it suitable for triple-display rooms. The UCX-4x2-HC40 is optimized for dual-display spaces and is priced accordingly. All other specifications, including USB-C inputs, USB peripheral sharing, and control features, are identical.
- Can both USB-C inputs charge laptops simultaneously?
- Yes. Both USB-C ports deliver charging simultaneously, with up to 100W available per port and 120W total shared across both ports.
- Is the device compatible with non-Google meeting platforms?
- Yes. While Google Meet certified, the UCX-4x2-HC40 functions as a standard USB and HDMI interface compatible with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and any other UC platform that recognizes USB peripherals.
- How does the LARA automation platform simplify room setup?
- LARA allows integrators to script automated responses — such as powering displays when a presenter connects, showing a welcome screen when the room is empty, or triggering a shutdown sequence when the occupancy sensor detects no movement — without an external room control processor.
- Is a FIPS 140-3 certified version available?
- Yes. The UCX-4x2-HC40-LCC (SKU: 91360027) includes NIST FIPS 140-3 certified Lightware CryptoCore for high-security government and enterprise deployments.
- What control interfaces are available for integration with third-party room control systems?
- The device provides RS-232 (2x 3-pole Phoenix), GPIO (8-pole Phoenix), occupancy sensor (3-pole Phoenix), and Ethernet (LW3 protocol) control interfaces, compatible with Crestron, AMX, Extron, and other commercial control systems.
