Product Overview
The Lightware UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 is a 2-input USB-C and HDMI switcher transmitter that delivers 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 uncompressed video, USB 2.0, and control signals over a single CAT6A cable to a compatible TPX receiver at distances up to 100 meters. It is part of the Taurus UCX product family and designed for point-to-point AV extension in corporate meeting rooms, huddle spaces, and collaboration environments where a clean, single-cable table connection is required without the complexity of a full 10G network infrastructure. The transmitter powers the connected receiver via PoE+ (up to 25.4W) and supplies up to 100W USB-C charging to the presenter device.
Product Description
Unlike the TPN variant, the UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 uses Direct-link SDVoE technology over a single CAT6A cable rather than a 10G Ethernet switch fabric. This makes it appropriate for rooms where a direct transmitter-to-receiver run is sufficient and where the cost and complexity of a managed 10G network switch is not justified. The TPX output carries video, audio, USB 2.0 (bidirectional), RS-232, OCS, and Ethernet in both directions over one cable to a single paired receiver.

The device accepts one USB-C input (DP 1.2a) and one HDMI 2.0 input, switching between them automatically or manually. It supports 5K (5120x2160) video at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0 via the HDMI input for ultrawide display formats. Independent USB host switching supports up to 8 USB 2.0 devices across the TX and RX sides (4 per device), covering cameras, speakerphones, and HID peripherals. Room device control is provided via Ethernet, serial, OCS, or GPIO. A FIPS 140-2 variant (UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20-LCC, SKU: 91360032) is available for secure deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 and the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20?
- The TPX variant uses Direct-link SDVoE over a single CAT6A cable to one receiver (point-to-point, up to 100m). The TPN variant connects to a 10G Ethernet switch fabric, enabling one-to-many distribution to multiple receivers across a network. The TPX is appropriate for individual rooms; the TPN is for networked multi-room matrix installations.
- Does the transmitter require a separate power supply for the receiver?
- No. The UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 delivers PoE+ power (up to 25.4W per IEEE 802.3at) to the paired receiver through the CAT6A cable, eliminating the need for a separate receiver power supply in most installations.
- Can the TPX-TX20 be used in a larger matrix system?
- The UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 can be connected to compatible Lightware MX2M matrix boards (e.g., MX2M-4TPX-IB) that accept TPX signals, integrating point-to-point TPX endpoints into a larger modular matrix installation.
- What receiver is the UCX-2x1-TPX-TX20 designed to work with?
- Compatible receivers include the HDMI-UCX-TPX-RX107, UCX-3x3-TPX-RX20, HDMI-TPX-RX107, HDMI-TPX-RX107A-SR, HDMI-TPX-RX107AU2K-SR, and other Direct-link SDVoE compatible TPX receivers from Lightware.
- What is the maximum HDMI cable length at 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 on the input side?
- The maximum input HDMI cable length using a premium certified HDMI cable at 3840x2160@60Hz 4:4:4 is 5 meters.
