Product Overview
The Lightware UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 is a 2-input USB-C and HDMI switcher transmitter designed for AV-over-IP deployments using SDVoE technology over 10G Ethernet. It transmits uncompressed 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 video, embedded audio, USB 2.0, RS-232, and Ethernet signals from a single source to multiple TPN receivers across a managed 10G network. The UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 is appropriate for enterprise conference rooms, boardrooms, and collaboration spaces where BYOD USB-C connectivity, 100W laptop charging, and centralized AV-over-IP matrix switching are required in a single-cable table connection.
Product Description
Part of Lightware's Taurus UCX product family, the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 combines full-featured USB-C input with HDMI 2.0 input in a 2-into-1 switching transmitter that connects to TPN-based 10G Ethernet networks. The device supports 5K (5120x2160) video via its HDMI 2.0 input at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0, making it one of the few table-top transmitters capable of passing ultrawide 21:9 resolutions for Microsoft Teams Front Row and similar collaboration layouts.

The USB 2.0 switching layer operates independently from the video path, supporting multiple USB hosts simultaneously — useful in rooms where a room PC and a presenter laptop must share USB peripherals such as cameras, speakerphones, and touch panels without manual cable swaps. The device integrates an SDVoE Control Server, supports remote system logging via Syslog (RFC3164/RFC5424) for SIEM integration, and is also available with NIST FIPS 140-2 certified Lightware Crypto Core for deployments with cryptographic compliance requirements (SKU: 91360033).

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 send signal to multiple displays simultaneously?
- Yes. As a TPN (SDVoE) transmitter, it can distribute its signal to multiple TPN-compatible receivers across a 10G Ethernet switch simultaneously, functioning as a one-to-many distribution source within the matrix.
- What USB devices can be shared between the laptop and room equipment?
- The independent USB 2.0 switching layer supports cameras, speakerphones, touch monitors, USB-HID devices, and other USB 2.0 class peripherals. Switching between USB hosts (e.g., room PC and presenter laptop) can be configured automatically or manually.
- Does the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 require a separate control system to operate?
- No. The device includes an integrated SDVoE Control Server, which manages network routing without requiring a separate control PC. Third-party control system integration via LW3 protocol over Ethernet or serial is supported but not required.
- What Ethernet switch is required?
- A managed 10G Ethernet switch with multicast and IGMP support is required. Lightware's TPN-LWS-10G-24X4V-P is a purpose-built option. Standard enterprise 10G switches from Cisco, Netgear AV, and similar vendors are also compatible when properly configured.
- Is the FIPS 140-2 version physically different from the standard model?
- The UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20-LCC (SKU: 91360033) is a separate SKU that includes the Lightware Crypto Core hardware module for NIST FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic operations. It is otherwise identical in form, fit, and function to the standard model.
- What is the maximum HDMI cable length at 4K@60Hz 4:4:4?
- With a premium certified HDMI cable, the maximum input cable length at 3840x2160@60Hz 4:4:4 is 5 meters. For longer source-to-device cable runs, an HDMI repeater or active cable is recommended.
