Product Overview
The Lightware MX2M-FR24R-FP is a 24x24 modular 4K hybrid matrix switcher frame with a single power supply, a front-panel display (F), and a power tray (P)—without the redundant PSU of the RF and RFP variants. It provides the same 24x24 non-blocking video crosspoint at 18 Gbps per port, the same 88x88 audio crosspoint, and the same hot-swappable I/O board architecture as the rest of the MX2M-FR24R series. The FP designation identifies this as the configuration for installations where a front-panel display and power tray are valued but PSU redundancy is not required—typical in fixed installations with protected power infrastructure or where overall budget must be managed while preserving flexibility for future board expansion.
Product Description
The MX2M-FR24R-FP accommodates 6 input and 6 output video board slots accepting 4-port HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, optical SC fiber, CATx/SDVoE, and other compatible boards. Four auxiliary slots support Dante/AES67 (32-channel), analog 8-channel audio, GPIO, and USB boards. A single PSU drawer provides up to 500W frame power and up to 600W PoE for connected endpoints (up to 100W per endpoint). A second PSU drawer can be added later to enable redundant operation, subject to firmware Redundancy Upgrade license purchase. The 2.2-inch TFT front-panel LCD with rotary switch enables direct crosspoint control without a connected computer. Control interfaces include EtherCON (100Base-T), 1000Base-T EtherCON for user data, D-sub 9 RS-232, and mini USB Type B. IT security features include LDAP, AD integration, SSH, and HTTPS.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I add redundant power to the MX2M-FR24R-FP later?
- Yes. A second PSU drawer can be physically installed at any time. However, to activate redundant operation in firmware, the Redundancy Upgrade license must be purchased separately if the unit was not originally configured with two PSU drawers from the factory.
- What distinguishes FP from F and from no suffix?
- F = Front-panel TFT display included. P = Power tray included. The base F variant has the front-panel display but no power tray. The no-suffix base MX2M-FR24R-F has neither the display nor the power tray. All share the same crosspoint and board slot configuration.
- Is the power tray required for operation?
- No. The power tray is an accessory that organizes AC power cabling within the rack. It is not required for the matrix to operate.
