Product Overview
The Lightware MX2M-DH-4DP12-IB is a four-port DisplayPort 1.2 input board for the Lightware MX2M modular matrix family. It enables direct connection of DisplayPort sources — such as workstations, CAD terminals, and high-performance laptops — to the MX2M routing infrastructure without requiring external DP-to-HDMI adapters. The board converts incoming DP 1.2 signals to HDMI internally and passes them to the MX2M crosspoint at up to 4K UHD @60Hz 4:4:4. Long-tail keywords: Lightware MX2M DisplayPort 1.2 input board modular matrix, 4K UHD DisplayPort to HDMI matrix expansion card, MX2M-DH-4DP12-IB DP 1.2 AV routing board.
Product Description
Each of the four DisplayPort 1.2a receptacles on the MX2M-DH-4DP12-IB supports HBR2/HBR/RBR link rates across up to four lanes, giving the board full DP 1.2 compliance for sources that require specific link configurations. The Restart Link Training feature lets operators reset DP link negotiation in software without physically disconnecting cables — critical in environments where sources behave inconsistently during initialization. Input signals are converted to HDMI internally at the board level, making them fully compatible with the MX2M's HDMI-based crosspoint and all downstream output boards. Resolutions up to 4K UHD @60Hz 4:4:4 at 8-bit are supported; at 10-bit depth, signals are converted to 4:2:2 to remain within the 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 bandwidth ceiling. HDR, Low Latency Dolby Vision, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio are all supported. HDCP 2.2 and HDCP 1.3 are handled with cross-conversion capability, and advanced EDID management is available through the MX2M frame's software. The board is hot-swappable for field service without frame downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the MX2M-DH-4DP12-IB support DP Multi-Stream (MST) or Adaptive-Sync?
- No. DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (MST), Dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++), Adaptive-Sync, and FreeSync are not supported. The board operates in Single-Stream Transport (SST) mode only.
- How does the board handle sources with different HDCP versions?
- The board performs HDCP cross-conversion, automatically matching the HDCP version required by the downstream output without manual reconfiguration.
- Why is the Restart Link Training feature useful?
- Some DisplayPort sources fail to complete link negotiation on initial connection or after a sleep/wake cycle. Restart Link Training resets the process in software, resolving the issue without physically unplugging the cable.
- What happens to 10-bit HDR signals at 4K@60Hz?
- The board converts the signal to 4:2:2 chroma subsampling while maintaining 10-bit depth, staying within the 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 bandwidth limit. HDR metadata is preserved.
- Can the board accept HDMI sources as well?
- No. The MX2M-DH-4DP12-IB accepts DisplayPort sources only. For HDMI sources, use the MX2M-4HDMI20-IB board.
