Product Overview

The Lightware MX2M-4HDMI20-IB is a four-port HDMI 2.0 input board for the Lightware MX2M modular matrix family. It brings four HDMI 2.0 compliant source connections into the MX2M crosspoint with full support for 4K UHD @60Hz 4:4:4, HBR audio de-embedding, HDCP 2.3 management, and zero frame latency. The board is designed for broadcast facilities, enterprise AV systems, and large-venue installations where high source density and signal fidelity at the input stage are non-negotiable. Long-tail keywords: Lightware MX2M HDMI 2.0 input board 4K modular matrix, MX2M-4HDMI20-IB hot-swap HDMI source expansion card, large format AV matrix HDMI 2.0 input board HBR audio.

Product Description

The MX2M-4HDMI20-IB accepts HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.x, and DVI signals on four type A connectors, passing them into the MX2M-FR24R frame's crosspoint at up to 597 MHz pixel clock (18 Gbps). All four inputs support HDCP 2.3 and HDCP 1.4 with cross-conversion, so mixed-HDCP source environments are handled automatically without manual configuration. Audio is de-embedded from all four incoming HDMI streams simultaneously and delivered to the MX2M Audio Layer, where audio streams can be independently routed to any output port in the matrix — separated from the associated video if required. HBR audio including Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD DA is extracted at this stage. Advanced source management features include DisplayID extreme format forcing (enabling non-standard resolutions such as 7000×1000 @60Hz 4:4:4), HDR and Dolby Vision signaling support, EDID management, and Frame Detector for signal analysis. A hot-swap design allows board replacement in operating frames without disrupting active routing on other installed boards.

Lightware MX2M-4HDMI20-IB HDMI 2.0 Input Board

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the MX2M-4HDMI20-IB accept DVI sources?
Yes. The board accepts DVI signals on the HDMI type A connectors using a standard HDMI-to-DVI adapter. DVI sources are recognized and routed through the crosspoint normally.
Does HDCP cross-conversion happen automatically?
Yes. The board automatically matches the HDCP version required by each downstream output board and display, eliminating manual HDCP version management in mixed environments.
Can audio from one input be routed to a different output from the video?
Yes. Audio is de-embedded from all four inputs and placed into the MX2M Audio Layer, from which it can be routed to any audio or video output port independently of the video routing path.
What does the Frame Detector do?
The Frame Detector analyzes incoming signal parameters including resolution, frame rate, color space, bit depth, and HDCP status. This information is displayed in the control software to assist with source troubleshooting without external test equipment.
Is this board compatible with all MX2M frame sizes?
The MX2M-4HDMI20-IB is designed for the MX2M-FR24R modular frame. Confirm compatibility with specific frame variants with your Lightware reseller.
How does DisplayID extreme format forcing work?
The board presents a custom EDID to the connected source device, telling it to output a non-standard resolution. This is used in LED wall, simulation, and data visualization environments where display dimensions do not match standard resolutions.
