Product Overview
The Lightware MX2-8x8-DH-4DPio-A is an 8x8 standalone matrix switcher with a mixed DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 I/O configuration: four DisplayPort 1.2 inputs, four HDMI 2.0 inputs, four DisplayPort 1.2 outputs, and four HDMI 2.0 outputs. It supports 4K UHD at 60Hz RGB 4:4:4 and is purpose-built for fixed-install AV environments where a mix of DP and HDMI sources and displays must be managed from a single matrix. Specifying a mixed DisplayPort HDMI 8x8 4K matrix switcher for corporate boardrooms, engineering labs, or operations centers with heterogeneous endpoint types leads directly to this model.
Product Description
The MX2-8x8-DH-4DPio-A operates at 18 Gbps per port with a non-blocking 8x8 crosspoint. DisplayPort 1.2 inputs are handled natively without adapters; internally, DP signals are converted to HDMI for crosspoint switching and re-output through either DP or HDMI outputs as needed. The matrix supports HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio on HDMI paths. Audio embedding and de-embedding is available at dedicated 5-pole Phoenix analog connectors at all four HDMI and all four DP I/O positions.

Lightware's Pixel Accurate Reclocking, Frame Detector signal analysis, and Advanced EDID Management are included. The device is controllable via front panel crosspoint buttons, built-in web server over Ethernet, RS-232 (3-pole Phoenix), and mini USB. Note: DP Multi-Stream (MST), Dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++), Adaptive-Sync, FreeSync, and HDR on DisplayPort outputs are not supported.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can a DP source be routed to an HDMI output and vice versa?
- Yes. The MX2-8x8-DH-4DPio-A internally converts all signals to HDMI for crosspoint switching, then re-outputs to either DP or HDMI as selected. Any input can be routed to any output regardless of connector type.
- What is the audio configuration at the DP ports?
- Each DP I/O position has a dedicated 5-pole Phoenix connector for analog stereo balanced audio. The H and D designation in the feature table indicates audio positions: H = next to HDMI port, D = next to DP port. Four HDMI-side and four DP-side audio I/O are provided.
- Does this model support 5K ultrawide displays?
- Yes, on HDMI output paths: 5120x2160 at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0. This supports ultrawide displays optimized for Microsoft Teams Front Row and similar collaboration layouts.
- Are Thunderbolt 3 sources compatible?
- Thunderbolt 3 ports output DisplayPort 1.2 video. Using a passive USB-C to DP adapter, Thunderbolt 3 laptops connect directly to the four DP inputs without active conversion.
- Is HDR supported on the DisplayPort outputs?
- HDR metadata passthrough is not supported on the DisplayPort outputs. HDR is supported on the HDMI output paths only.
- Where can I purchase this matrix and get configuration support?
