Product Overview

The Lightware MX2-16x16-HDMI20-Audio is a 16-input, 16-output standalone HDMI 2.0 matrix switcher with breakaway analog audio embedding and de-embedding, holding TEMPEST SDIP27 Level B certification for deployments in classified and high-security AV environments. For standard commercial installations, it provides the same capability: 16x16 4K60 4:4:4 HDMI routing with independent analog audio management at each input and output. Four analog stereo inputs embed audio into the HDMI stream; eight outputs—four adjacent to HDMI outputs and four independent connectors—provide de-embedded stereo LPCM audio to downstream amplifiers and audio systems. This unit is appropriate for secure government facilities, defense integration, boardrooms, training rooms, and houses of worship requiring independent audio zone control.

Product Description

The MX2-16x16-HDMI20-Audio uses a 16x16+4 non-blocking crosspoint at 18 Gbps per port, passing 4K at 60Hz in 4:4:4 format on all HDMI ports. HDMI 5K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and 3D are supported. The analog audio section provides 4 stereo balanced inputs (5-pole Phoenix) for embedding and 8 outputs—4 adjacent to HDMI outputs and 4 independent (5-pole Phoenix)—for de-embedding LPCM audio from any input. Control interfaces are Ethernet (RJ45), RS-232 (stereo balanced 3-pole Phoenix), and USB. Standard IEC power with optional redundant power supply. TEMPEST SDIP27 Level B certification makes this unit the correct specification for AV installations in classified facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does TEMPEST SDIP27 Level B mean for AV buyers?
TEMPEST SDIP27 Level B is a NATO-aligned electromagnetic security standard that ensures the device does not emit detectable electromagnetic signals that could compromise classified information. This certification is required or preferred for AV installations in intelligence facilities, military command centers, and classified government spaces.
Can this unit be used in a non-classified installation?
Yes. The TEMPEST certification does not restrict general commercial use. The MX2-16x16-HDMI20-Audio performs identically in standard AV installations and is a well-specified 16x16 HDMI matrix with analog audio for any boardroom or presentation environment.
What is the difference between the 4 independent audio outputs and the 4 HDMI-adjacent outputs?
The 4 HDMI-adjacent outputs are positioned next to HDMI output ports and de-embed audio from whatever source is routed to that HDMI output. The 4 independent outputs are freely assignable via software and can carry de-embedded audio from any input regardless of video routing.
Where can I purchase the MX2-16x16-HDMI20-Audio?
