Product Overview

The Lightware MX-TPS-OB is a TPS HDBaseT output board for Lightware MX-FR series modular matrix frames, transmitting HDMI video, audio, Ethernet, and bidirectional control signals over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable to remote displays at distances up to 100 m. It is the base TPS output board without the additional analog audio output of the MX-TPS-OB-A variant, making it the appropriate selection for installations where HDMI-embedded audio is sufficient and no local analog audio breakout is required at the display endpoint.

Product Description

The MX-TPS-OB installs into any output slot of a Lightware MX-FR series frame and transmits routed HDMI signals over HDBaseT to compatible TPS receiver units at up to 100 m over standard CAT structured cabling. Video, embedded audio, bidirectional IR, RS-232, and Ethernet are all carried on the single CAT run, simplifying conduit and cabling infrastructure at display locations. EDID is managed per port by the MX-FR frame's control system, ensuring consistent source-to-display resolution negotiation. The board supports remote powering of compatible Lightware TPS receiver devices, eliminating local power supplies at display endpoints. Multiple MX-TPS-OB boards can be installed in the same frame alongside input boards of any type.

Lightware MX-TPS-OB TPS Output Board

Key Features

  • HDBaseT TPS Output — Transmits HDMI video and audio over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable to remote displays at up to 100 m.
  • Bidirectional Control Extension — IR and RS-232 extended bidirectionally over the CAT cable for remote display control.
  • Ethernet Pass-Through — LAN connectivity delivered to the display location over the same CAT run.
  • Remote Receiver Powering — Compatible TPS receiver units powered over the CAT cable; no local power supply required at display.
  • MX Frame Integration — Installs in any output slot of MX-FR series frames for full matrix routing.
  • Per-Port EDID Management — EDID managed per output port by the MX-FR frame control system.
  • Broad CAT Cable Compatibility — Operates over CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7.

Typical Applications

  • Conference room display endpoints connected over HDBaseT from central matrix
  • Training room multi-display distribution where HDMI audio is sufficient
  • Boardroom with simplified single-CAT display connections
  • Corporate campus meeting rooms on centralized matrix with TPS endpoints

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between MX-TPS-OB and MX-TPS-OB-A?
The MX-TPS-OB-A adds a balanced analog audio output for local speaker connection. The MX-TPS-OB carries only HDMI-embedded audio to the TPS receiver; no separate analog audio breakout is provided.
What cable type is required?
CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 standard structured cabling. Shielded cable is recommended in high-interference environments for maximum 100 m performance.
Can the TPS receiver be powered from this board?
Yes. Compatible Lightware TPS receiver units are powered over the CAT cable from the MX-TPS-OB, eliminating local power supplies at display locations.
Does the MX-TPS-OB extend Ethernet to the display location?
Yes. Ethernet pass-through provides LAN connectivity at the TPS receiver location over the same CAT cable as video and control.
What frame is this board compatible with?
The MX-TPS-OB is compatible with Lightware MX-FR series frames, including the MX-FR9.
Where can I purchase the MX-TPS-OB?
Available from Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net, an authorized Lightware reseller.
