Product Overview
The Lightware MX-TPS-IB is a TPS HDBaseT input board for Lightware MX-FR series modular matrix frames, receiving HDMI video, audio, Ethernet, and bidirectional control from a remote TPS transmitter over a single CAT cable at distances up to 100 m. It is the base TPS input board with 12V remote powering capability for connected TPS transmitter devices, without the analog audio input of the MX-TPS-IB-A variant. This board is the standard choice for TPS-based presenter inputs in conference rooms, training rooms, and similar spaces where a TPS wallplate or transmitter connects to a remote source over structured cabling.
Product Description
The MX-TPS-IB installs in any input slot of a Lightware MX-FR series frame and receives HDMI signals from a compatible Lightware TPS transmitter over CAT5e/6/7 cable. The received signal enters the MX-FR crosspoint matrix for routing to any installed output board. The board supplies 12V remote power to compatible TPS transmitter devices over the CAT cable, eliminating local power supplies at the presenter location. Bidirectional IR and RS-232 control signals and Ethernet pass-through are all extended over the same cable. EDID is managed per input port by the MX-FR frame's control system. Multiple MX-TPS-IB boards can populate the same frame alongside output boards and other input board types.

Key Features
- HDBaseT TPS Input — Receives HDMI video, audio, and control from TPS transmitters over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable at up to 100 m.
- 12V Remote Powering — Supplies 12V DC over the CAT cable to compatible TPS transmitter endpoints, eliminating local power at presenter locations.
- Bidirectional Control Extension — IR and RS-232 pass bidirectionally over the CAT cable for source device control.
- Ethernet Pass-Through — LAN connectivity extended to the transmitter location over the same cable run.
- MX Frame Integration — Installs in any input slot of MX-FR series frames for full matrix crosspoint routing.
- Per-Port EDID Management — EDID managed per input port by the MX-FR frame control system.
- Standard CAT Cable — Compatible with CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT7 infrastructure.
Typical Applications
- Conference room presenter input via HDBaseT wallplate powered from matrix input board
- Training room instructor stations connected over CAT with powered TPS transmitter
- Boardroom source points with TPS wallplates powered from central matrix
- Corporate multi-room AV with centralized matrix and powered remote TPS transmitters

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between MX-TPS-IB and MX-TPS-IB-A?
- The MX-TPS-IB-A adds a balanced analog audio input for embedding local line-level audio into the HDMI stream. The MX-TPS-IB handles HDMI-embedded audio only and does not have an analog audio input.
- How does 12V remote powering work?
- The board supplies 12V DC over the CAT cable to compatible Lightware TPS transmitter devices. The transmitter draws its operating power from this supply, requiring no local power connection at the presenter location.
- Is bidirectional RS-232 supported?
- Yes. RS-232 passes in both directions over the CAT cable for complete source device control from the matrix location.
- What cable type is required?
- CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 standard structured cabling. Shielded cable is recommended for maximum 100 m performance in high-EMI environments.
- What frame is this board compatible with?
- All Lightware MX-FR series frames, including the MX-FR9.
