Product Overview

The Lightware MX-TPS-IB-A is a TPS input board for Lightware MX-FR series modular matrix frames, providing HDMI signal reception over HDBaseT from a remote source location along with Ethernet, bidirectional IR, RS-232 control, and an analog audio input on a single board. It is the appropriate input board for installations where a TPS transmitter or wallplate sends HDMI from a presenter location to the matrix, and where analog audio from a local microphone or line source must also be embedded into the routed HDMI signal. Conference rooms, training rooms, and all-hands spaces with mixed analog and digital audio requirements benefit from this board's combined capability.

Product Description

The MX-TPS-IB-A accepts HDMI video and audio transmitted over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable from a compatible Lightware TPS transmitter at distances up to 100 m. Once received at the frame input, the signal enters the MX-FR crosspoint matrix for routing to any installed output board. The board's analog audio input — balanced line-level — allows a local audio source to be embedded into the HDMI stream, combined with or replacing the digital audio from the TPS source. Control signals including IR and RS-232 are extended bidirectionally over the CAT cable, enabling control of source devices at the far end. Ethernet pass-through on the same cable allows network connectivity at the source location without additional cable runs. All input functions are managed through the MX-FR frame's Ethernet-based control system.

Lightware MX-TPS-IB-A TPS Input Board with Analog Audio

Key Features

  • HDBaseT TPS Input — Receives HDMI video and audio over a single CAT5e/6/7 cable from TPS transmitters at up to 100 m.
  • Analog Audio Input — Balanced analog audio input allows embedding of local line-level audio sources into the HDMI signal stream.
  • Bidirectional Control Extension — Passes IR and RS-232 control signals bidirectionally over the CAT cable to and from the source location.
  • Ethernet Pass-Through — Network connectivity delivered to the source location over the same CAT cable as HDMI and control.
  • MX Frame Integration — Installs in any input slot of MX-FR series frames for full matrix routing.
  • Remote Power Sourcing — Supports remote powering of compatible TPS transmitter endpoints over the HDBaseT cable.
  • Per-Port EDID Management — EDID stored and managed per input port for reliable source device resolution negotiation.

Typical Applications

  • Conference room presenter input with local microphone audio embedding
  • Training room with instructor station connected over HDBaseT with audio integration
  • Boardroom with TPS wallplate sources and analog audio infrastructure
  • All-hands room where presentation and audio sources are combined at the matrix input

Frequently Asked Questions

What distinguishes the MX-TPS-IB-A from the MX-TPS-IB?
The MX-TPS-IB-A adds a balanced analog audio input for embedding local line-level audio into the HDMI stream. The standard MX-TPS-IB does not include this analog audio input.
What cable type is required?
CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 standard structured cabling. Shielded cable is recommended in high-interference environments.
Can this board power TPS transmitters at the source end?
Yes. Compatible Lightware TPS transmitters can receive operating power from the MX-TPS-IB-A over the same CAT cable carrying the HDMI signal.
How does analog audio embedding work?
The balanced analog audio input on the board can be embedded into the HDMI audio stream, combining or replacing digital audio from the TPS source as configured in the MX frame control system.
What frame is this board compatible with?
The MX-TPS-IB-A is compatible with Lightware MX-FR series frames, including the MX-FR9.
Where can I purchase the MX-TPS-IB-A?
Available from Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net, an authorized Lightware reseller.
