Product Overview
The Lightware MX-FR80R upgrade package converts an existing MX-FR65R modular matrix router frame to an MX-FR80R, expanding the crosspoint size from 65x65 to 80x80. This is a factory-applied or field-applied upgrade for organizations that originally specified an MX-FR65R frame and have outgrown its port capacity without wanting to replace the entire chassis. The upgrade retains all existing I/O boards, control configuration, and cabling while delivering the larger 80x80 crosspoint of the MX-FR80R. For broadcast studios, large operations centers, and university AV systems running MX-FR65R infrastructure that has reached capacity, this upgrade provides a cost-effective path to additional routing headroom within the same physical frame.
Product Description
The MX-FR80R is the largest frame size in the Lightware MX series modular router lineup, supporting an 80x80 crosspoint with the full MX I/O board library—including HDMI 1.4 boards with 4K and 3D, DVI-D, dual-link DVI, HDBaseTT with PoE, 3G-SDI, fiber optical boards for up to 2500m runs, and TPS twisted pair extension boards. The upgrade from MX-FR65R to MX-FR80R adds 15 additional input and output slots to the existing frame's routing capacity, using the same board types already deployed. EDID management retains 100 factory presets and 50 user-programmable profiles. Ethernet (10/100Base-TX auto-sensing), RS-232/422, and front-panel LCD crosspoint control are all maintained post-upgrade. Maximum power consumption is 400W. EN 55022 Class B, RoHS compliant, 3-year warranty.
