Product Overview
The Lightware MX-FR33L is a 33x33 crosspoint modular digital router frame in the MX series with left-side I/O panel orientation—making it functionally identical to the MX-FR33R but configured for installations where side-access cabling is preferred over rear-panel routing. Like the R variant, the MX-FR33L accepts the full MX series I/O board library including HDMI 1.4 (4K/3D), DVI, HDBaseTT, 3G-SDI, TPS, and fiber optical boards, giving integrators the flexibility to build a custom signal routing system optimized for their specific mix of source types and transport media. The front-panel LCD, crosspoint control keys, and Ethernet/RS-232/422 interfaces are identical across all MX-FR frame sizes and panel orientations.
Product Description
The MX-FR33L provides a 33x33 non-blocking crosspoint with EDID management storing 100 factory presets and 50 user-programmable profiles in 256-byte Extended EDID v1.3 format. I/O boards populate the left panel, accommodating HDMI 1.4 boards with 4K and 3D support, DVI-D, dual-link DVI, DVI-I (VGA/YUV/DVI/HDMI), HDBaseTT boards with PoE, 3G-SDI, TPS input/output boards, fiber optical boards for runs up to 2500m, and twisted pair HDMI extension boards. Ethernet control uses auto-sensing 10/100Base-TX with a built-in web interface. RS-232/422 baud rate is field-selectable from 9600 to 115200. Power is standard IEC at 110/220V with a maximum consumption of 400W. EN 55022 Class B and RoHS compliant, 3-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the practical difference between the MX-FR33L and MX-FR33R?
- Both frames have identical crosspoint size, board compatibility, control features, and specifications. The only difference is I/O panel orientation: the L variant has all I/O connectors on the left side panel, while the R variant has them on the rear. Choose based on your rack layout and cable management preference.
- Can I mix HDMI and SDI boards in the same frame?
- Yes. The MX-FR33L accepts any combination of compatible I/O boards. You can populate input slots with HDMI 1.4 boards and SDI boards simultaneously, with the crosspoint routing any input type to any output regardless of signal type on the input board.
- What fiber distances are supported?
- Fiber optical boards support up to 2500m on multimode fiber with LC, SC, ST, and Neutrik OpticalCON connectors. Singlemode fiber boards are also available for longer distances. HDMI and DVI signals are both supported on the fiber board options.
