Product Overview

The Lightware MMX8x8-HT080 is a standalone 8x8 matrix switcher for conference room AV, combining four HDMI 1.4 and four TPS2 (HDBaseT) inputs with four HDMI and four TPS2 outputs. It shares the same chassis and control architecture as the MMX8x8-HT440 but omits the dedicated analog audio ports — making it the correct model when the room's audio management is handled by a separate DSP or when only HDMI-embedded audio is required in the matrix signal path. AV integrators specifying a conference room HDBaseT HDMI 8x8 matrix with PoE and multi-port control but no matrix-level analog audio will find the MMX8x8-HT080 avoids paying for audio I/O they don't need while retaining the full Event Manager, relay, GPIO, and IR control capability of the HT series.

Product Description

The MMX8x8-HT080 routes 4K/UHD signals (30Hz RGB 4:4:4, 60Hz YCbCr 4:2:0) with full HDCP compliance. TPS2 ports extend HDMI 1.4 over single CAT5e/CAT6/CAT7 cables at up to 100m (CAT5e AWG24) or 170m in Long Reach mode (CAT7 AWG23, Full HD only). PoE 48V is available on all I/O TPS ports for extender powering. The built-in Event Manager provides automated room control — input switching on signal detection, display power sequences via RS-232, projection screen control via relay — without requiring an external control processor.

Control ports include two bidirectional RS-232 ports, two serial/IR ports, four IR ports, four relay outputs, and a 6-pin GPIO port, matching the HT440 for room control capability. Ethernet device control and Ethernet injection via TPS extend LAN connectivity to remote endpoints over the same cable carrying video and audio. Advanced EDID Management with factory and user-programmable presets is included for source resolution management.

Key Features

  • 4x HDMI + 4x TPS2 Inputs, 4x HDMI + 4x TPS2 Outputs — Mixed HDMI and HDBaseT I/O in a single conference room device.
  • 4K/UHD Support — 4K 30Hz RGB 4:4:4 and 60Hz YCbCr 4:2:0 with HDCP.
  • Up to 170m TPS Extension (Long Reach Mode) — Full HD over CAT7 AWG23; 100m at 4K 30Hz.
  • PoE 48V on All TPS Ports — Integrated PoE injector eliminates external injectors for extender powering.
  • No Analog Audio Ports — Cleaner signal chain when room audio is managed by an external DSP or AV receiver.
  • Built-in Event Manager — Automated switching and room control without external control processor.
  • 2x Bidirectional RS-232 + 4x IR Ports — Direct display and projector control over control ports or via TPS cable runs.
  • 4x Relay Outputs and 6-Pin GPIO — Interface with screens, projector lifts, and building automation.
  • Ethernet via TPS — LAN extension to remote endpoints over single CAT cable.
  • Advanced EDID Management — Per-input EDID emulation with factory and user-defined presets.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the MMX8x8-HT080 differ from the MMX8x8-HT440?
The MMX8x8-HT080 omits the eight balanced analog audio ports included in the HT440. All other specifications — matrix size, TPS I/O, PoE, Event Manager, relay, IR, GPIO, and control ports — are identical. Choose the HT080 when audio is managed externally; choose the HT440 when matrix-level analog audio embedding and de-embedding are required.
Can the MMX8x8-HT080 control a projector or display without an external control processor?
Yes. The built-in Event Manager can send RS-232 commands to displays and projectors on power-up, source switching, or room signal detection events. Four IR ports and two serial/IR ports provide additional display control options. For rooms requiring this level of automation, no separate control processor is needed.
What TPS extenders are compatible with the MMX8x8-HT080?
The MMX8x8-HT080 is compatible with Lightware's HDBaseT extender range (HDMI-TPS-RX86, HDMI-TPS-RX87, HDMI-TPS-RX96, HDMI-TPS-RX97 series and others) as well as third-party HDBaseT-compliant devices and displays with built-in HDBaseT receivers.
What PoE specification is supported?
PoE 48V is available on every I/O TPS port. The built-in PoE injector function requires the PSU-48vp external 48V power supply connected to the matrix board — the PoE power is not derived from the matrix's internal power supply.
Is 4K 60Hz supported over TPS?
4K at 60Hz YCbCr 4:2:0 (297 MHz pixel clock) is supported at distances up to 70m on CAT5e AWG24 and up to 100m on CAT7 AWG23. 4K 60Hz RGB 4:4:4 is not supported over TPS.
Where can I buy the MMX8x8-HT080?
