Product Overview

The Lightware MMX6x2-HT220 is a compact standalone matrix switcher with six inputs (four HDMI 1.4, two HDBaseT TPS) and two independent HDMI outputs, each with a mirrored HDBaseT TPS output, delivering a 6x2 crosspoint for meeting rooms, classrooms, and control rooms. It targets commercial AV integrators who need a self-contained matrix switcher with built-in audio handling, PoE remote powering, and Event Manager automation in a 1U form factor without an external control processor. The MMX6x2-HT220 receives signals from TPS transmitters at up to 170 meters over a single CAT cable while powering those transmitters via PoE.

Product Description

The MMX6x2-HT220 provides a 6x2 video matrix: four HDMI 1.4 and two HDBaseT TPS inputs switch to two independent HDMI outputs and two mirrored TPS outputs. PoE 48V remote powering on all TPS ports eliminates local power at transmitter locations and reduces installation time. The device extends TPS signals up to 120 meters in standard HDBaseT mode and up to 170 meters in Long Reach mode, maintaining Full HD at maximum distance. Four 5-pole Phoenix analog audio inputs and two balanced audio outputs allow audio insertion and de-embedding, with adjustable gain and volume directly from the Lightware Device Controller software. The built-in Event Manager triggers crosspoint switches, RS-232 commands, IR commands, and volume changes in response to signal events, resolution changes, or input status — enabling simple room automation without an external control system. Configuration cloning via the Lightware Device Controller copies all settings across multiple units in a multi-room deployment. A 2x16 character LCD and front panel buttons provide local status and control.

Key Features

  • 6x2 matrix with dual TPS outputs — Four HDMI + two TPS inputs; two HDMI + two TPS outputs for flexible routing to local and remote displays.
  • PoE 48V on all TPS ports — Powers remote transmitters over CAT cable, eliminating separate power infrastructure at each source location.
  • 170-meter Long Reach TPS — Extends Full HD signals to 170m over CAT7 AWG23; standard HDBaseT reaches 120m with 4K support.
  • 4K/UHD and 3D support — Handles 3840x2160@30Hz, 1600x1200@60Hz, and 1080p@120Hz sources.
  • Four analog audio inputs — 5-pole Phoenix connectors for audio insertion from external sources, with adjustable gain (0–21 dB).
  • Two balanced audio outputs — 5-pole Phoenix balanced outputs for de-embedded audio with volume control (-57 to 0 dB).
  • Built-in Event Manager — Automates switching, IR, RS-232, and volume actions in response to signal or status events.
  • Advanced EDID Management — 119 factory presets and 12 user-programmable slots; locks EDID per input connector.
  • Configuration cloning — Copies full device configuration to unlimited units via Lightware Device Controller application.
  • Bi-directional RS-232 and IR — Pass-through and command injection for control of remote displays and devices.
  • 2x16 front panel LCD — Displays status and allows local control without a connected laptop or control system.
  • HDCP compliant — Full support for HDCP on all HDMI and TPS ports.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the MMX6x2-HT220 and the MMX6x2-HT210?
The HT220 has two TPS outputs; the HT210 has one TPS output. The HT200 has no TPS outputs. All three share the same HDMI input/output count and feature set otherwise.
Does PoE work on both TPS inputs and outputs?
PoE 48V remote powering is available on all TPS ports (both inputs and outputs), powering connected TPS transmitters and receivers over the CAT cable.
Can this unit switch audio independently from video?
No. Audio and video are switched together as a matrix crosspoint. However, audio can be de-embedded at the outputs and volume-adjusted independently via the balanced audio outputs.
Does Long Reach mode affect audio or control signals?
Long Reach mode limits the maximum resolution to Full HD (1080p). Audio, RS-232, IR, and Ethernet pass-through continue to function normally in Long Reach mode.
What control interfaces does the MMX6x2-HT220 support?
The unit is controllable via RS-232 (3-pole Phoenix), USB (mini-B), and Ethernet (TCP/IP) using the Lightware Device Controller application or third-party control systems.
Is configuration cloning available for multi-room deployments?
Yes. The Lightware Device Controller application can clone the full configuration from one unit to unlimited additional units in a few steps.
Where can I purchase the MMX6x2-HT220?
Available from Creation Networks, an authorized Lightware commercial AV reseller.
