Product Overview

The Lightware MMX6x2-HT200 is a compact 6x2 multiport matrix switcher combining four HDMI 1.4 inputs and two HDBaseT (TPS) inputs with two independent HDMI outputs, designed specifically for conference room and classroom AV systems that require local matrix switching with audio flexibility. Supporting 4K UHD at 30Hz, 3D signal formats, and full HDCP compliance, the MMX6x2-HT200 consolidates signal routing, audio de-embedding, and remote powering of TPS endpoints into a single 1RU half-rack unit. Its built-in Event Manager provides programmable automation without a dedicated control system, making it a practical choice for AV integrators deploying cost-efficient room solutions at scale. The unit is available from Creation Networks as part of Lightware's MMX6x2-HT series.

Product Description

The MMX6x2-HT200 accepts signals from four HDMI 1.4 sources and two HDBaseT-connected remote transmitters — all routed to any combination of its two HDMI outputs. The TPS inputs support PoE 48V remote powering over standard CATx cable, eliminating the need for separate power infrastructure at wall-plate transmitter locations. HDBaseT receivers and displays are natively compatible, extending signal distribution up to 170 meters in Long Reach mode on CAT7 cable. The unit's four balanced analog audio inputs allow external microphones or audio sources to be inserted into the video signal, while two balanced analog outputs provide de-embedded audio for connected amplifiers or DSP systems.

The built-in Event Manager executes user-defined actions — crosspoint switches, RS-232 commands, IR commands, and volume changes — in response to system events such as signal detection or resolution changes, enabling autonomous room operation. Configuration cloning via the Lightware Device Controller software allows a single device profile to be replicated across multiple units in a single step, reducing commissioning time for multi-room deployments. The front-panel LCD and button controls provide on-device operation without a control system.

Key Features

  • 6x2 Matrix Crosspoint — Routes any of six inputs (4x HDMI, 2x TPS) to either or both HDMI outputs independently.
  • 4K UHD @ 30Hz Support — Handles 3840x2160@30Hz and 4096x2160@30Hz alongside 1080p@120Hz and 1600x1200@60Hz.
  • Full 3D Signal Support — Passes frame packing, side-by-side, and top-bottom 3D formats across all ports.
  • PoE 48V on TPS Ports — Powers remote HDBaseT wall-plate transmitters or receivers over CAT cable; no separate power outlet required.
  • HDBaseT Extension up to 170m — Long Reach mode extends 1080p signals up to 170m on CAT7 AWG23 cable.
  • 4x Balanced Analog Audio Inputs — Insert external audio sources with independent gain and volume control on each input.
  • 2x Balanced Analog Audio Outputs — De-embedded stereo audio for amplifiers or DSP, with independent volume and gain control.
  • Built-in Event Manager — Automates switching, RS-232 commands, IR control, and volume changes triggered by signal status events.
  • Advanced EDID Management — 119 factory presets and 12 user-programmable EDID profiles; locks source output format to system requirements.
  • Multichannel Audio Support — Passes up to 8-channel PCM, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 via HDMI.
  • RS-232 and IR Command Injection — Send control commands from the LAN port to RS-232 or IR-controlled devices at remote TPS endpoints.
  • Configuration Cloning — Export and replicate device configuration to unlimited MMX6x2-HT200 units via Lightware Device Controller software.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the MMX6x2-HT200 route a single input to both outputs simultaneously?
Yes. Any input can be routed to either or both HDMI outputs independently. The 6x2 crosspoint matrix allows full any-in to any-out routing including duplication.
What HDBaseT transmitters are compatible with the TPS inputs?
The unit is compatible with HDBaseT-compliant transmitters and displays. Lightware wall-plate and standalone TPS transmitters are tested and recommended. Non-Lightware HDBaseT devices may work but should be verified.
Does it support audio from external sources like microphones?
The unit accepts balanced analog audio via 5-pole Phoenix connectors on four input channels. Gain adjustment (0–21 dB) allows condenser line-level signals to be inserted. Microphone preamp functionality is not provided; a separate mic preamp is required for microphone inputs.
What is the Event Manager and does it require programming?
The Event Manager is a built-in rules engine that triggers predefined actions (switching, RS-232 commands, volume changes) based on system status events. Rules are configured via the Lightware Device Controller software and stored in the device; no external control system is required for execution.
Can this unit replace a separate audio DSP for simple rooms?
For simple conference rooms requiring only volume control and analog de-embedding, the MMX6x2-HT200’s audio capabilities may be sufficient. Complex audio processing, echo cancellation, or AEC requires a dedicated DSP.
What is the maximum cable length for HDMI inputs?
HDMI input equalization is adaptive and automatic. Standard HDMI cable lengths vary by resolution; at 1080p60, typical passive cable limits apply (5–10m for standard cables). Active HDMI cables extend this range.
Is configuration backup and restore supported?
Yes. The Lightware Device Controller software can export the full device configuration and restore it to the same or any other MMX6x2-HT200, enabling rapid deployment across multiple identical rooms.
