Product Overview

The Lightware HDMI-TPX-RX106 is an HDMI 2.0 HDBaseT receiver that accepts a structured Cat6A or Cat7 cable from the paired HDMI-TPX-TX106 transmitter and outputs an HDMI 2.0 signal to a local display, along with USB HID, RS-232, and IR. It is the display-side unit in a Lightware VINX TPX point-to-point HDBaseT extension system, supporting runs up to 100 meters. Available from Creation Networks.

Product Description

Lightware HDMI-TPX-RX106 HDMI 2.0 HDBaseT receiver

Deployed at the display end of an HDBaseT cable run, the HDMI-TPX-RX106 decodes the HDBaseT signal from the transmitter and presents a clean HDMI 2.0 output to the connected display or AV device. It simultaneously handles the return path: USB HID signals from a keyboard or mouse at the display location are sent back to the transmitter (and connected computer), RS-232 is passed bidirectionally for display control, and IR commands are forwarded in both directions. The receiver can be powered via Power over HDBaseT (PoH) from the HDMI-TPX-TX106 transmitter, eliminating the need for a local power supply at the display location — which is particularly valuable for ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted installations. The compact form factor suits mounting behind displays, in wall boxes, or on rack shelves.

Key Features

  • HDMI 2.0 output up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) and 1080p@60Hz (4:4:4)

  • USB HID (keyboard and mouse) return path to transmitter
  • Bidirectional RS-232 for display and device control
  • Bidirectional IR control pass-through
  • Powered by PoH from transmitter — no local power supply required
  • HDCP 2.2 compliant
  • Compact form factor for behind-display or in-wall mounting
  • Pairs with HDMI-TPX-TX106 transmitter (91580002)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the HDMI-TPX-RX106 need its own power supply?
No. When paired with the HDMI-TPX-TX106 transmitter, the receiver is powered over the HDBaseT Cat cable via Power over HDBaseT (PoH). No local power supply is required at the receiver/display end, which simplifies ceiling and wall mount installations.
What cable is required between the transmitter and receiver?
Cat6A is the recommended minimum for 4K and full 100-meter runs. Cat7 is also supported. Standard Cat5e or Cat6 may work at shorter distances and lower resolutions but is not recommended for 4K or full-distance HDBaseT. Use shielded cable (STP/FTP) in environments with significant electrical interference.
Can the receiver output 4K@60Hz at 100 meters?
At 4K@60Hz (4:2:0), the maximum extension is approximately 70 meters on Cat6A, not 100 meters. The 100-meter specification applies to 1080p signals. For 4K at maximum distance, consult Creation Networks to confirm with your specific cable plant.
Does the receiver support HDCP 2.2 for 4K copy-protected content?
Yes. The HDMI-TPX-RX106 is HDCP 2.2 compliant and will pass 4K protected content from compatible sources to HDCP 2.2 displays.
Can the USB HID extension be used for keyboard and mouse at the display location?
Yes. The receiver includes USB HID pass-through, allowing a keyboard and mouse connected at the display (receiver) end to control the computer at the source (transmitter) end. This enables KVM-style operation over a single HDBaseT cable run.
Is the HDMI-TPX-RX106 compatible with any HDBaseT transmitter, or only the TX106?
It is designed and validated to work with the Lightware HDMI-TPX-TX106. HDBaseT is a standard protocol, but interoperability with third-party transmitters is not guaranteed. Contact Creation Networks before attempting non-Lightware pairings.
