Product Overview
The Lightware HDMI-OPTX-TX200AU2K is an SDVoE-compatible fiber optical transmitter that accepts HDMI 2.0 input and transmits uncompressed video, audio, USB 2.0, Ethernet, and RS-232 over a single-mode or multimode optical fiber link to a paired HDMI-OPTX-RX100AU2K receiver. The unit supports 4K UHD at 60Hz in 4:4:4 with HDCP 2.3 compliance and zero frame delay, making it the correct choice for broadcast, medical visualization, and enterprise AV installations where signal integrity cannot be compromised by compression. Fiber transmission distances reach up to 10 km with a single-mode SFP+ module, enabling campus-scale distribution over existing fiber infrastructure.
Product Description
The transmitter accepts HDMI 2.0 input — supporting DVI 1.0 and HDMI 1.4 backward compatibility — and outputs via SFP+ cage at 10 Gbps onto the fiber link. A local HDMI loop output (HDMI 2.0, 4K60 4:4:4) allows a local display or confidence monitor to remain connected at the source without a separate distribution amplifier. Pixel Accurate Reclocking is applied to the HDMI input to eliminate clock jitter before transmission. EDID emulation supports a default EDID and one locally stored EDID profile to ensure the source outputs the correct resolution.

USB connectivity at the transmitter includes two USB-A device ports and one USB-C host port (all USB 2.0). The analog audio output on a 5-pole Phoenix connector de-embeds balanced stereo from the HDMI stream at +4 dBu nominal, available at the source end regardless of the fiber link state. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000Base-T) provide local network access or pass-through. RS-232 via 3-pole Phoenix supports display or device control from the source location.

Typical Applications
- Broadcast production facilities transmitting 4K60 camera feeds or playout sources to remote control rooms via fiber
- Corporate campus AV distribution where existing single-mode fiber connects buildings and copper distances are impractical
- Medical simulation or imaging environments requiring lossless signal transmission with zero compression artifacts
- Education spaces with sources in one building and displays in another, using campus fiber backbone
- Digital signage head-end installations distributing to displays hundreds of meters or kilometers away

Frequently Asked Questions
- What SFP+ module is required, and is it included?
- The SFP+ module is not included. For distances up to 10 km, a single-mode 10G SFP+ module is required. For in-building multimode runs, an appropriate OM3/OM4 multimode SFP+ module is used. The module must be selected to match your fiber plant type and run length. Contact us at creationnetworks.net for module selection guidance.
- Does the transmitter provide a local monitor output?
- Yes. The local HDMI 2.0 output on the TX200AU2K mirrors the input signal at full 4K60 4:4:4 resolution, allowing a confidence monitor or local display to remain connected at the source without any additional distribution equipment.
- Can this transmitter be used with third-party SDVoE receivers?
- Compatibility with third-party SDVoE devices depends on the specific implementation. The HDMI-OPTX-TX200AU2K is validated and supported when paired with the Lightware HDMI-OPTX-RX100AU2K receiver. Interoperability with other SDVoE-branded products is not guaranteed by Lightware.
- How is USB traffic routed between transmitter and receiver?
- USB 2.0 data travels in the reverse direction — USB devices connected at the receiver end appear to the USB host at the transmitter end. The USB-C port on the transmitter connects to the host computer. USB-A ports on the transmitter are device ports for local peripherals.
- Is EDID management configurable by the installer?
- Yes. The transmitter supports a default EDID and one locally stored EDID profile (EDID v1.3). The stored EDID is configured via the Lightware Device Controller software and presented to the source to enforce a specific output resolution.
