Product Description

BiDi transceivers use wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) to carry TX and RX traffic on different wavelengths over a single fiber strand. This halves the fiber count required between switches and endpoint devices, reducing infrastructure cost and conduit fill in fiber-constrained environments. The "B" module in a BiDi pair transmits on 1330nm and receives on 1270nm, making it the complementary counterpart to the "A" module. Can this module be used without the matching BiDi "A" module?

No. BiDi transceivers must be used in matched pairs: one "A" module at one end of the fiber, and one "B" module at the other. Mixing two "A" or two "B" modules on the same fiber link will not produce a working connection.

What fiber cable type is required?

Singlemode fiber (OS1 or OS2) with LC connectors. A single fiber strand is sufficient — the BiDi technology carries both directions on one fiber. Standard duplex LC to duplex LC patch cords are also compatible, using only one fiber of the pair.

Is this module compatible with third-party switches?
