Product Overview

The Lightware DVI-OPT-RX110 is a compact DVI fiber optical extender receiver that accepts a fiber optic signal from a paired DVI fiber transmitter and outputs DVI-D video at the display end. Fiber optic extension eliminates the distance limitations of copper-based DVI, supports runs of 300 meters or more on multimode fiber and several kilometers on singlemode, and provides complete electrical isolation between source and display — an important consideration in environments with ground loop issues or where copper signal paths are not permitted. The RX110 is the receive-side unit in Lightware's DVI-OPT fiber extension system.

Available from Creation Networks, an authorized Lightware reseller.

Product Description

Lightware DVI-OPT-RX110 front view

The DVI-OPT-RX110 is the receiver-side component of a fiber-based DVI extension pair. It receives the fiber signal from a paired transmitter and converts it back to a DVI-D output for connection to a monitor, projector, or display controller. The compact chassis is designed for surface mounting or placement in equipment racks at the display end of the fiber run. Fiber optic transmission is immune to electromagnetic interference, making it the correct solution for installations in RF-noisy environments such as broadcast facilities, medical imaging rooms, and industrial control settings.

Lightware DVI-OPT-RX110 rear panel

Unlike copper HDBaseT or TPS extenders, a fiber DVI system introduces no signal degradation over long runs, provides galvanic isolation between source and display, and is not limited by the electromagnetic properties of structured cabling. The DVI-OPT-RX110 is the preferred receiver for mission-critical video delivery over long distances or in environments where EMI immunity is a requirement.

Key Features

  • DVI-D output (single link) at the display end of a fiber run
  • Fiber optic input — accepts signal from Lightware DVI-OPT transmitter
  • Extension distances up to 300 m on multimode, further on singlemode fiber
  • Full electrical isolation between source and display
  • EMI-immune signal path — suitable for RF-noisy environments
  • Compact chassis for surface mount or rack-mount installation
  • HDCP compliant
  • No latency introduced by conversion — optical conversion is transparent

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast control rooms where DVI sources are located in remote equipment rooms
  • Medical imaging facilities requiring electrical isolation between source and display
  • Industrial control environments with high electromagnetic interference
  • University and campus AV distribution over existing fiber infrastructure
  • Government and security facilities where copper signal paths are restricted
  • Long-distance display extension in large venues, arenas, and transit hubs

Frequently Asked Questions

What transmitter pairs with the DVI-OPT-RX110?
The RX110 is the receiver side of the Lightware DVI-OPT fiber extender system. It pairs with the corresponding Lightware DVI-OPT transmitter unit. Contact Creation Networks to confirm the correct transmitter model for your fiber type (multimode or singlemode) and cable run distance.
Does fiber extension introduce any video latency?
No. Optical conversion and transmission across fiber is essentially transparent — the propagation delay over fiber is negligible at practical installation distances. There is no codec or compression processing that would introduce perceptible latency.
Can I use existing installed fiber for this extension?
Yes, provided the fiber type (multimode OM3/OM4 or singlemode OS2) and connector type (LC recommended) match the specifications of the transmitter and receiver. Verify the loss budget of the installed fiber plant before commissioning.
Why choose fiber DVI extension over HDBaseT or AV-over-IP?
Fiber is the correct choice when EMI immunity is required (medical, broadcast, industrial), when galvanic isolation between source and display is needed to eliminate ground loops, or when runs exceed the 100-meter limit of HDBaseT copper. For multi-destination or switched AV, AV-over-IP is more appropriate.
Does the DVI-OPT-RX110 support HDCP?
Yes, HDCP-compliant content is carried transparently through the fiber extension system, provided both the source and display also support HDCP.
