Product Overview
The Lightware DP-OPT-TX150 is a DisplayPort 1.1a fiber optic extender transmitter that carries high-resolution video, HDCP-protected content, and USB HID signals over a single multimode fiber cable to distances of up to 1100 m. As the source-end unit in the DP-OPT extender pair, it connects to a DisplayPort computer or Thunderbolt-equipped Mac and converts the signal for fiber transmission to the DP-OPT-RX150 receiver at the display end. Integrated HID emulation provides transparent keyboard and mouse extension with no driver installation.
Product Description
The DP-OPT-TX150 connects to the source computer via a standard DisplayPort connector and outputs the signal onto a single SC multimode fiber. Single Fiber Technology allows all high-speed video lanes, HDCP handshaking, DisplayPort Link Training data, and USB HID signals to share a single fiber core bi-directionally — simplifying cabling to one fiber run between source and display.

The transmitter provides 2 local USB-A ports with a built-in USB hub for connection to the host computer via a single USB cable. This allows USB devices at the remote display location to appear as directly connected to the source computer. Dual-mode DisplayPort compatibility allows connection to DVI or HDMI displays at the receiver end via adaptor cable, and the unit is Thunderbolt-compatible for Mac-based installations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Must the TX150 be paired with the RX150?
- Yes. The DP-OPT-TX150 is designed exclusively for use with the DP-OPT-RX150 receiver. The Single Fiber Technology is proprietary to the Lightware DP-OPT pair.
- How does USB connectivity work from the transmitter side?
- The TX150 provides 2 USB-A ports with an integrated hub. A single USB cable connects the hub to the host computer. USB HID devices at the remote receiver end communicate through this link.
- Is a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) source compatible?
- The DP-OPT-TX150 uses a standard DisplayPort connector. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) sources require a USB-C to DisplayPort adaptor cable before connecting to the transmitter.
- What fiber patch cable connectors are needed?
- SC connectors. Ensure fiber patch cables terminated with SC connectors are used at both the TX150 and RX150. SC-to-LC adaptor panels can be used if the existing infrastructure uses LC.
- Can the TX150 be remote-configured from the receiver end?
- Yes. Both TX and RX units are remotely configurable from either side via the mini USB port and Lightware Device Controller software.
- What is the power consumption of the TX150?
- 2.75 W typical, 3 W maximum without USB; 3.1 W typical with USB; up to 8.2 W maximum with USB devices drawing 500 mA per port.
- Where can I purchase the DP-OPT-TX150?
