Product Overview

The Lightware DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 is a 3-input USB-C and HDMI transmitter switcher for AV-over-IP deployments using SDVoE technology over 10G Ethernet. It accepts one USB-C input and two HDMI 2.0 inputs, switches among them, and transmits uncompressed 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 video, embedded audio, and Ethernet to multiple TPN-compatible receivers across a managed 10G network. Designed for training rooms, learning environments, and multi-source boardrooms where presenters may use USB-C laptops, room PCs, or HDMI sources, the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 provides 100W laptop charging and 5K ultrawide resolution support in a compact transmitter form factor at a lower cost than the UCX-2x1 series.

Product Description

The DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 is positioned as the cost-effective entry point into the Lightware Taurus TPN AV-over-IP platform, providing three selectable inputs (1x USB-C DP 1.2a, 2x HDMI 2.0) in the same footprint as the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 but without the full independent USB 2.0 matrix switching layer. The device connects to a 10G Ethernet switch via its TPN output port (RJ45, 10GBase-T, AVXT) and participates in a TPN ecosystem where all endpoints are managed by a TPN-MMU-X100-20 or similar management unit, enabling multi-room matrix switching without a dedicated physical matrix switcher chassis.

The USB-C input delivers single-cable connectivity for 4K video, audio, data, and 100W charging to connected laptops, simplifying table connectivity in rooms where a dedicated charging outlet is not available at the presentation position. HDMI 2.0 inputs support up to 5K (5120x2160) at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0 for ultrawide display formats, and full 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 for standard UHD content. The device integrates an SDVoE Control Server and supports remote Syslog logging (RFC3164/RFC5424) over TCP, UDP, or TLS for IT infrastructure integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 and the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20?
The DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 has three inputs (1x USB-C and 2x HDMI) versus two on the UCX. The DCX does not include the full independent USB 2.0 matrix switching layer found on the UCX, making it more cost-effective for rooms where multi-host USB peripheral sharing is not required. Both devices connect to the TPN 10G network for AV-over-IP distribution.
Can the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 send to multiple displays simultaneously?
Yes. As a TPN (SDVoE) transmitter on a 10G Ethernet network, the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 can distribute its video signal to multiple TPN receivers simultaneously, enabling one-to-many signal distribution without additional splitter hardware.
What management unit is required for a TPN matrix installation?
The TPN-MMU-X100-20 is the Matrix Management Unit for TPN-based SDVoE systems. It manages all TPN endpoints on the network, providing centralized crosspoint routing control and firmware management. Alternatively, the TPN-CTU-X50 control unit is available for smaller deployments.
Does the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 work with the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20 in the same system?
Yes. Taurus UCX, DCX, and HDMI-TPN devices can be combined in the same TPN SDVoE matrix, as they all operate on the same 10G SDVoE network protocol. A compatible management unit is required to manage the combined system.
Is a FIPS 140-2 variant of the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10 available?
A FIPS 140-2 certified Lightware Crypto Core variant is not listed for the DCX-3x1-TPN-TX10. For deployments requiring cryptographic compliance, the UCX-2x1-TPN-TX20-LCC (SKU: 91360033) should be evaluated.
What is the maximum HDMI input cable length at 4K@60Hz?
With a premium certified HDMI cable, the maximum HDMI input cable length at 3840x2160@60Hz 4:4:4 is 5 meters. For longer source-to-device runs, an HDMI active cable or repeater is recommended.
