Product Overview
The Liberty AV 24-4P-L6ASH-WHT is a 1000ft reel of Category 6A F/UTP shielded cable rated CM (riser) under NEC, designed for 10GbE network and AV-over-IP infrastructure in commercial installations. Built to ANSI/TIA-568-C Cat6A performance standards and certified to 500 MHz, this 23 AWG STP cable supports 10GBASE-T over a full 90m permanent link and is backwards compatible with Cat5e and Cat6 systems. The foil-shielded construction with drain wire provides superior EMI rejection, making it the right choice for AV-over-IP runs near power conduit, motorized rigging, lighting dimmers, or other interference sources.
Product Description
The 24-4P-L6ASH-WHT is Liberty AV's Cat6A augmented cable offering, engineered for commercial integrators deploying 10 Gigabit Ethernet, HDBaseT, AV-over-IP (NDI, Dante, SMPTE 2110), or high-density PoE infrastructure. At 23 AWG with solid bare copper conductors, this cable delivers DC resistance of 20.3 Ω/1000' and supports maximum current of 1.4A at 25°C, meeting IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ requirements for power-hungry endpoints like PTZ cameras, video bars, and 802.11ax access points.
The 100% aluminum/polyester foil shield with a 24 AWG solid tinned copper drain wire provides continuous shielding coverage for each cable run, reducing susceptibility to alien crosstalk (AXT) in densely bundled cable trays and near EMI sources common in commercial AV environments. Pairs are isolated with a polyethylene X-separator interstice and twisted in varying lay lengths, maintaining Cat6A alien crosstalk performance through installation pulls. With a 0.296" outside diameter, this cable requires Cat6A-rated connectors and patch panels — standard Cat6 connectors will not achieve rated performance. The white FR-PVC jacket makes it easy to identify within mixed-cable infrastructure. The 1000ft reel format and 25 lb installation pull tension rating support large-scale horizontal distribution pulls in office buildings, government facilities, and higher education AV infrastructure projects.
Key Features
- 10GbE / 10GBASE-T Capable — Supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet over a 90m permanent link (plus 10m patch cords), future-proofing AV-over-IP and IT network infrastructure for bandwidth-intensive deployments.
- F/UTP Foil Shield — 100% aluminum/polyester tape foil shield with 24 AWG solid tinned copper drain wire suppresses EMI and alien crosstalk, critical in commercial AV environments with dense cable bundles or nearby power runs.
- 23 AWG Solid Bare Copper Conductors — Higher conductor mass versus 24 AWG provides lower resistance for longer PoE power delivery runs and reduces signal attenuation at 10GbE frequencies.
- Certified to 500 MHz — Third-party UL and ETL certified to ANSI/TIA-568-C Category 6A, verified to 500 MHz for full Cat6A channel compliance.
- PoE++ Compatible — 1.4A maximum current rating at 25°C supports IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 and Type 4 PoE++ for high-power endpoints including PTZ cameras, video conferencing endpoints, and high-density wireless access points.
- CM / CMR Rated Jacket — NEC CMR 75°C and CEC CMG FT4 rated for vertical riser runs and general commercial building wiring in non-plenum spaces.
- Polyethylene X-Separator — Cross-filler separator maintains pair geometry and spatial separation through installation, preserving Cat6A alien crosstalk margins in bundled cable trays.
- HDBaseT and Balun Support — Suitable for passive balun infrastructure up to 2500ft for analog AV signal extension, plus standard HDBaseT extender deployments to 100m.
- Backwards Compatible — Terminates in standard Cat6 110/IDC jacks for legacy infrastructure (at reduced Cat6 performance), or in Cat6A-rated connectors for full 10GbE channel performance.
- 1000ft Reel, RoHS Compliant — Standard 305m reel format with EU RoHS-2 2011/65/EU compliance for commercial and government project documentation requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the maximum channel length for 10GbE on this cable?
- Per ANSI/TIA-568-C, the maximum Cat6A channel length is 100m total, consisting of up to 90m of permanent link (horizontal) cable plus 10m for equipment and patch cords. This applies to 10GBASE-T Ethernet as well as HDBaseT Class C extenders at full 4K/18Gbps operation.
- Does this cable require shielded connectors?
- To achieve full Cat6A channel performance and EMI rejection, the cable should be terminated with Cat6A-rated shielded connectors (STP plugs, shielded keystones, and shielded patch panels) with proper drain wire bonding. The foil shield must be continuously grounded at both ends through the connector hardware to be effective. Terminating into standard unshielded Cat6 jacks is possible but will not meet Cat6A channel specifications.
- Is this cable compatible with existing Cat5e or Cat6 patch panels?
- The cable can be punched down onto standard Cat6 110/IDC patch panels using the 23 AWG conductors. Performance in that configuration will be limited to Cat6 or Cat5e channel ratings depending on the patch panel and connectors used. For full 10GbE channel compliance, Cat6A-rated patch panels and connectors are required throughout the channel.
- Can this cable be used in plenum air-handling spaces?
- No. The 24-4P-L6ASH-WHT carries NEC CMR and CEC CMG FT4 ratings for riser and general commercial wiring. It is not CMP-rated and should not be installed in plenum air-handling spaces unless run in metal conduit. For plenum applications, Liberty AV offers a CMP-rated Cat6A shielded plenum variant.
- Does this cable support PoE++ for high-power endpoints?
- Yes. The 23 AWG solid copper conductors with a DC resistance of 20.3 Ω/1000' and 1.4A maximum current rating support IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 (60W) and Type 4 (100W) PoE++ applications. Ensure proper bundling derating is applied per TIA-568.2-D Annex G when cables are tightly bundled in trays, as thermal rise affects maximum PoE current.
- What is the grounding requirement for the foil shield?
- The aluminum/polyester foil shield with drain wire requires proper grounding at both the equipment room and telecommunications closet ends of the channel. Floating (ungrounded) shields can act as an antenna and worsen interference rather than reducing it. Verify that the ground path is continuous and bonded to the building electrical system ground per TIA-607-B.
- What are the passive balun performance limits for this cable?
- Liberty AV documents passive balun support up to 2500ft for analog AV signal extension (composite video, component, VGA over balun). For digital AV protocols over Cat6A — including HDMI via HDBaseT — the standard 100m channel limit applies. Passive balun distances vary by balun manufacturer and signal type; consult the balun datasheet for specific run length ratings.
