Product Overview
The Lab Gruppen IPX 2400 is a 2,400-watt, 2-channel DSP-controlled power amplifier in a 1RU chassis, combining integrated signal processing with Class-D amplification for permanent installations, portable corporate AV, and live PA applications. Delivering 2 x 1,200 W at 4 ohms, the IPX 2400 includes an advanced DSP engine with up to 40 real-time parametric EQ bands, adjustable gain and delay, high/low-pass filters, AES3 digital inputs with analog failover, and Ethernet-based remote control — making it a DSP amplifier suitable for system designers who need processing and amplification in a single device.
Product Description
The IPX 2400 occupies the mid-tier of the Lab Gruppen IPX Series and is designed for applications where a standalone DSP processor and separate amplifier would otherwise be required. Its onboard DSP engine provides up to 40 real-time multi-slope parametric EQ filters, adjustable input and output delay, and both high-pass and low-pass filters configurable to any frequency — plus a software-controlled Speaker Protect Limiter for loudspeaker protection. All DSP parameters are accessible from the front-panel backlit display using a rotary encoder and navigation buttons, or from a PC, Mac, or iPad running the IPX Controller software.
Inputs include two balanced XLR analog inputs and two XLR AES3 digital inputs, with automatic failover from digital to analog when AES3 signal is lost. This redundancy feature is directly applicable to voice alarm, emergency PA, and mission-critical corporate AV systems where audio continuity cannot be interrupted. A 4-channel input mixer enables source blending and switching across all inputs. Up to 50 user-defined presets can be stored onboard and recalled from the front panel or software without a connected computer.
Network control via Ethernet supports automatic discovery and identification of all connected IPX amplifiers, enabling a technician to configure an entire multi-amp system from a single interface. The IPX Controller GUI is designed for touchscreen operation, making it practical for facilities managers or on-site AV support staff. Output connections are provided on both NL4 speakON connectors and binding posts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the IPX 2400 replace a separate DSP processor?
A: For many installations, yes. The onboard DSP includes 40 parametric EQ bands, adjustable delay, high/low-pass filters, and a speaker protect limiter — sufficient for most single-amplifier zone or stereo deployments. Complex multi-amp systems may still benefit from a centralized upstream DSP processor.
Q: How does the AES3 failover work?
A: When configured for AES3 input with analog failover, the IPX 2400 automatically switches to the analog XLR input if the AES3 signal is lost. This provides a hardware-level redundancy path for PA, voice alarm, and emergency audio applications.
Q: How is the IPX 2400 configured remotely?
A: The IPX Controller software (Windows, Mac, iPad) connects via Ethernet and auto-discovers all IPX amplifiers on the network. From there, all DSP parameters — EQ, delay, gain, limiters, presets — can be configured and monitored centrally.
Q: What impedances does the IPX 2400 support?
A: The IPX 2400 supports 2, 4, and 8 ohm loads. It does not include a built-in Hi-Z (70 V/100 V) output mode; constant-voltage distribution would require an external transformer.
Q: What speaker connectors are available?
A: Each channel provides both an NL4 speakON connector and a binding post pair, accommodating both touring and permanent installation cabling conventions.
Q: Is the unit suitable for permanent rack installations?
A: Yes. The 1RU form factor, IEC mains input, and included rear rack support brackets make the IPX 2400 appropriate for fixed rack installations. The auto-discovery network control is particularly useful for multi-amplifier systems.
