Product Overview

The Lab Gruppen IPX 1200 is a 1,200-watt, 2-channel Class-D DSP amplifier in a 1RU chassis designed for commercial AV integrators who need integrated signal processing and amplification in a single device. Delivering 2 x 600 W at 4 ohms, the IPX 1200 is the entry-level model in the IPX Series and includes onboard DSP with up to 40 parametric EQ bands, adjustable delay, high/low-pass filters, AES3 digital inputs with analog failover, Ethernet control, and a software-controlled Speaker Protect Limiter — making it a capable solution for smaller permanent installations, portable corporate AV, or live monitor applications.

Product Description

The IPX 1200 provides 1,200 W of total output across two channels with an integrated DSP engine that eliminates the need for a standalone processor in many single-amplifier or small-system deployments. Its DSP includes up to 40 real-time multi-slope parametric EQ bands, both high-pass and low-pass filters adjustable to any frequency, and adjustable input and output delay — all accessible from the front-panel backlit display via a rotary encoder and navigation buttons, or remotely from a PC, Mac, or iPad using the IPX Controller software.

Inputs include two balanced XLR analog connections and two XLR AES3 digital inputs, with automatic failover from digital to analog on AES3 signal loss. This redundancy path is directly applicable to permanent installations in government spaces, houses of worship, or corporate AV rooms where audio continuity is required. A 4-channel input mixer allows blending and switching across all four inputs. Up to 50 user-defined presets are stored onboard and recallable from the front panel or the IPX Controller interface.

Ethernet network control enables automatic discovery and identification of connected IPX amplifiers, supporting centralized configuration of all DSP parameters across multiple units from a single interface. The IPX Controller GUI is touch-optimized, making it practical for technicians operating from a tablet. Speaker output connections are provided on NL4 speakON connectors and binding posts. The IPX 1200 ships with a power cord and rear rack support brackets.

Key Features

  • 1,200 W Total Output, 2 Channels — 2 x 600 W at 4Ω; 2 x 500 W at 2Ω; 2 x 300 W at 8Ω.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the IPX 1200 and IPX 2400?

A: Both are 2-channel DSP amplifiers with identical features. The IPX 1200 delivers 2 x 600 W at 4Ω (1,200 W total); the IPX 2400 delivers 2 x 1,200 W at 4Ω (2,400 W total). Choose the IPX 2400 when more output headroom is needed for larger spaces or more power-hungry loudspeakers.

Q: Does the IPX 1200 require a separate DSP processor?

A: For most single-amplifier applications, no. The onboard DSP includes 40 parametric EQ bands, adjustable delay, high/low-pass filters, and a Speaker Protect Limiter — sufficient for the majority of conference room, fill zone, and small system installations.

Q: How does AES3 failover work?

A: When the amplifier is configured to use AES3 digital input with analog backup, it automatically switches to the analog XLR input if the AES3 signal is interrupted. This is useful for permanent installations where audio continuity is required, such as government PA or corporate all-hands rooms.

Q: Can the IPX 1200 be controlled from a tablet on-site?

A: Yes. The IPX Controller software runs on iPad as well as Windows and Mac, with a touchscreen-optimized interface. The Ethernet connection allows remote access to all DSP parameters without requiring a wired laptop connection at the rack.

Q: What impedances does the IPX 1200 support?

A: The IPX 1200 supports 2, 4, and 8 ohm loads. It does not include a native Hi-Z (70 V/100 V) output mode. Constant-voltage distribution would require an external step-up transformer.

Q: What is included with the IPX 1200?

A: The IPX 1200 ships with a power cord and rear rack support brackets for standard 19" rack installation.
