Product Overview
The Lab Gruppen D 20:4L is a 2,000W 4-channel installation amplifier with onboard Lake DSP and Dante digital audio networking in a 1U rack-mount chassis. Using the IDEEA Class D output stage with native direct drive capability, the D 20:4L drives 70V and 100V constant-voltage speaker systems without external transformers and supports Lo-Z loads from 2 to 16 ohms. Designed for AV integrators and system designers specifying a compact 4-channel Lake DSP amplifier with Dante for distributed audio in commercial spaces, the D 20:4L delivers network-controlled, DSP-integrated amplification at the entry level of the D Series Lake platform.
Product Description
The D 20:4L provides 2,000W total burst output across four channels managed by Lab Gruppen's RPM (Rational Power Management) technology, which allows burst power to be redistributed across channels so that unused capacity in idle channels becomes available to active channels. Per-channel power at all-channels-driven is 500W into 2 ohm, 2.67 ohm, 4 ohm, and 8 ohm loads, 425W into 16 ohms, and 500W at 25V/70V Hi-Z, with 250W at 100V Hi-Z. Single-channel maximum output reaches 850W at 2 ohms, up to 1,600W at 4 ohms, 1,400W at 70V, and 1,000W at 100V, illustrating the flexibility RPM provides.
The IDEEA Class D output stage provides native direct drive to 70V and 100V Hi-Z speaker lines without requiring external step-up transformers, simplifying wiring and reducing rack space for distributed audio systems in commercial facilities. Lake DSP is fully integrated, providing per-channel parametric EQ, linear-phase and FIR crossover filters, delay, LimiterMax peak and RMS limiters, Raised Cosine MESA EQ, and group control configurable via Lake Controller software. Dante 8x8 dual-redundant audio networking with AES67 support is built in, with configurable latency from 0.25 to 5.0ms and support for both daisy-chain and redundant network topologies. Four AES/EBU (AES3) digital inputs supporting up to 192 kHz at 24-bit are also provided, along with four balanced analog inputs with Iso-Float proprietary ground isolation for clean integration with analog signal sources. The Breaker Emulation Limiter (BEL) is fixed at 8A on the D 20:4L for mains protection. Four-level input redundancy, which can be configured in Lake Controller, ensures continuous audio delivery if primary signal sources fail.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the D 20:4L require external transformers for 70V or 100V speaker systems?
A: No. The IDEEA Class D output stage provides native direct drive to 70V and 100V constant-voltage speaker lines without external step-up transformers. This simplifies installation wiring and reduces total rack equipment for distributed audio systems.
Q: How does RPM benefit a 4-channel installation using the D 20:4L?
A: RPM (Rational Power Management) allows the amplifier's 2,000W total burst capacity to be redistributed across channels in real time. If one or two channels are carrying lower loads, their unused burst capacity becomes available to channels under higher demand. This can allow short-duration peaks on individual channels to exceed the all-driven per-channel figure, making the amplifier more efficient in mixed-load installations.
Q: What DSP capabilities does the Lake processing provide on the D 20:4L?
A: The onboard Lake DSP includes per-channel parametric EQ, linear-phase crossover, FIR crossover filters, delay, LimiterMax peak and RMS limiters, Raised Cosine MESA EQ, and input/output routing. All processing is configured and managed via Lake Controller software. The CAFE Equipment Specification Predictor (ESP) can be used for system design prior to deployment.
Q: What Dante configuration does the D 20:4L support?
A: The D 20:4L includes built-in Dante 8x8 dual-redundant audio networking with AES67 interoperability. Audio latency is configurable from 0.25ms to 5.0ms. Both daisy-chain and redundant Dante network topologies are supported.
Q: What is the difference between the D 20:4L and D 10:4L?
A: Both share the same IDEEA Class D platform, Lake DSP, Dante networking, and 1U chassis. The D 20:4L provides 2,000W total burst output with 500W per channel at all-driven into 2–8 ohm loads, while the D 10:4L provides 1,000W total burst output with 250W per channel at all-driven. The D 20:4L is preferred where higher sustained power per zone is required.
Q: Can the D 20:4L receive both analog and digital inputs simultaneously?
A: Yes. The D 20:4L provides four Iso-Float analog inputs and four AES3 digital inputs alongside Dante. The four-level input redundancy feature in Lake Controller allows primary, secondary, and fallback input sources to be configured, with automatic failover between Dante, AES3, and analog inputs.
Q: What warranty and support does Creation Networks offer on the D 20:4L?
A: The D 20:4L carries the Lab Gruppen manufacturer warranty. Creation Networks provides pre-sales consultation and system design support and can assist customers in locating authorized Lab Gruppen service centers for warranty and technical service.
