Product Overview
The Lab Gruppen C 48:4 is a 4,800W 4-channel commercial installation amplifier with Class-TD efficiency, NomadLink network monitoring capability, and support for both Hi-Z (70V and 100V) and Lo-Z (2–16 ohm) speaker loads in a 2U rack-mount chassis. Designed for AV system integrators specifying audio in conference rooms, training rooms, houses of worship, boardrooms, and commercial meeting spaces, the C 48:4 provides a professionally monitored installation amplifier with remote status display and control via NomadLink and DeviceControl software. The Lab Gruppen C 48:4 4-channel NomadLink amplifier is a well-matched specification for medium-power commercial audio installations that require network visibility without the overhead of a full onboard DSP platform.
Product Description
The C 48:4 delivers 4,800W across four channels at up to 1,200W per channel into 4 ohms. Its Class-TD output stage provides Class-A/B sonic quality at Class-D energy efficiency, and the Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS) ensures consistent output across mains voltage variation. The Intercooler copper cooling system maintains thermal performance during extended commercial operation. NomadLink network monitoring is built in, allowing key amplifier parameters to be displayed and controlled via DeviceControl software over Ethernet when paired with the NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge and Network Controller (required separately).
Four balanced 3-pin Phoenix connector inputs and four 2-pole barrier strip screw-terminal outputs provide clean, permanent installation wiring. A scalable Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL) protects connected loudspeakers from excess voltage peaks, and selectable gain allows the amplifier to be matched to the signal levels of the source equipment or DSP processor. Bridge-mode operation is available for higher single-zone output: up to 2,400W into 8 ohms and 1,800W at 140V. The protection scheme covers current, voltage, DC, temperature, short-circuit, and open-load conditions with LED status indication on the front panel. The 2U chassis includes a removable dust filter grille.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the C 48:4 compare to the C 68:4?
A: The C 48:4 provides 4,800W total output versus 6,800W on the C 68:4. Per-channel into 4 ohms the C 48:4 delivers 1,200W versus 1,700W on the C 68:4. Both models share the same NomadLink architecture, Class-TD output stage, and connector layout. The C 48:4 is appropriate for installations with moderate power requirements per zone.
Q: Does the C 48:4 include onboard DSP?
A: No. The C 48:4 provides NomadLink network monitoring and remote control but does not include onboard DSP. External signal processing from a separate DSP or matrix processor is recommended for loudspeaker management. For onboard Lake DSP and Dante networking, see the D Series Lake range.
Q: What is needed to enable NomadLink network monitoring?
A: The NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge and Network Controller is required separately to connect the amplifier to an Ethernet network. Once the NLB 60E is installed, DeviceControl software provides parameter display and remote mute and power on/off control over the network.
Q: Does the C 48:4 support constant-voltage speaker systems?
A: Yes. Each channel supports 70V and 100V Hi-Z operation alongside Lo-Z loads from 2 to 16 ohms, making it suitable for distributed commercial speaker systems using constant-voltage distribution.
Q: When should bridge mode be used on the C 48:4?
A: Bridge mode is useful when a single zone requires more output than one channel provides. In bridged configuration, the C 48:4 delivers up to 2,400W into 8 ohms and 1,800W at 140V, suitable for subwoofers or high-SPL zones in smaller venues.
Q: What protection does the C 48:4 include for loudspeakers?
A: The scalable Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL) protects loudspeakers from excessive voltage transients. The full protection scheme also covers current limiting, overvoltage, DC faults, thermal protection, and short-circuit and open-load detection.
Q: What warranty and support are available?
A: Lab Gruppen C Series products carry the manufacturer's standard warranty. Creation Networks provides pre-sales specification support and can connect customers with authorized Lab Gruppen service centers for technical and warranty service.
