Product Overview
The Kramer FC-18 is a 4K HDR display ON/OFF controller that automates display and projector power management in conference rooms, boardrooms, and commercial meeting spaces — eliminating the need for manual display power control by end users. It sits in-line in the HDMI signal path: when an active HDMI signal is detected, it sends an ON command to the connected display via CEC, RS-232, or Ethernet; when the signal disappears after a configurable timeout, it sends an OFF command. AV integrators deploy the FC-18 in rooms where a room control system with full Maestro or Kramer Control automation is not justified, but automatic display power on/off is still required as a standalone function. It supports 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) HDR10 and HDCP 2.2 with no impact on signal quality.
Product Description
The FC-18 accepts a single HDMI input, reclocks and equalizes it with Kramer Equalization and re-Klocking technology, and passes it through to the HDMI output for the connected display. Simultaneously, it monitors the input for signal presence — a rising signal triggers an ON command, and a falling signal (with configurable delay) triggers an OFF command. Display control is sent via whichever method is available: CEC over the HDMI cable, RS-232 serial command, or Ethernet IP command — covering virtually all modern commercial displays and projectors. Manual control is also available via front panel button, RS-232 commands, CEC commands from the source, Ethernet, and contact closure switches for integration with podium buttons or table-mount controls. RS-232 to Ethernet data tunneling allows serial commands from a control system to be forwarded over IP to a network-connected display. Selectable EDID modes — default internal, external pass-through, or user-defined — handle compatibility with a wide range of connected sources. Three units fit side-by-side in a 1U rack space with the optional rack adapter, making rack integration tidy in any AV equipment room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the FC-18 require a room control system?
No. The FC-18 operates as a standalone display power controller — no room control system is required. It automatically sends ON/OFF commands based on HDMI signal presence and can be manually controlled via its front panel, contact closure, or Ethernet without additional software.
What display control methods does the FC-18 support?
The FC-18 sends display ON/OFF commands via CEC over the HDMI cable, RS-232 serial commands to a display connected to the RS-232 port, or Ethernet IP commands to a network-connected display. The appropriate method is configured based on the display's available control interfaces.
Can the FC-18 be integrated with a Crestron or AMX system?
Yes. The Ethernet and RS-232 ports allow integration with Crestron, AMX, Kramer Control, and other room control systems for both display control commands and data tunneling between serial and Ethernet control paths.
Does the FC-18 affect video quality?
No. Kramer Equalization and re-Klocking rebuilds the HDMI signal on the output, maintaining or improving signal quality with no perceptible impact on 4K HDR content.
What is the configurable display power-off delay?
The FC-18 supports a configurable idle timeout period before sending the OFF command after signal loss, preventing false power-off events during brief source disconnections. The timeout is configured via the embedded web interface over Ethernet.
