Product Overview
The Kramer DIP-20 is a multi-format HDMI and VGA auto-switching HDBaseT transmitter with Maestro room automation, designed for BYOD conference rooms, huddle rooms, and presentation spaces where the connected device automatically triggers display power-on and source selection without manual intervention. It extends 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) HDMI or VGA/audio signals over extended-reach HDBaseT to a compatible receiver at up to 130 meters (normal mode) or 180 meters (ultra mode with BC-UNIKAT cables), while simultaneously providing PoE to power a remote HDBaseT receiver over the same Cat cable. AV integrators use the DIP-20 in conference rooms where a single-cable, presenter-friendly connection point is required — a laptop plugs in, the display wakes and switches automatically, and disconnects trigger automated room shutdown. RS-232 and IR pass-through over HDBaseT enables full display and room device control from a central equipment room.
Product Description
The DIP-20's Maestro automation handles the complete room lifecycle: when a source connects, Maestro powers on the display, selects the correct input, and routes the signal. When the source disconnects after a configurable idle timeout, Maestro powers the display off, returning the room to a ready state without operator involvement. HDMI auto-switching uses priority and last-connected logic, overridable with a local front panel button or contact closure remote switch for manual source selection. Analog audio detected on the 3.5mm input is automatically embedded into the HDMI output stream. The HDBaseT output provides a standard compliant connection for any HDBaseT-certified receiver, not just Kramer models. Local HDMI output and balanced audio de-embedding give integrators the option to feed a local display or separate room audio system directly from the DIP-20 without downstream extender hardware. EDID management is handled intelligently by I-EDIDPro with lockable EDID for stable source negotiation across multiple sessions.
Key Features
- 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) HDMI + VGA Auto-Switching — Priority or last-connected auto-switching between HDMI and VGA inputs with manual override.
- Maestro Room Automation — Automatically powers displays on/off and routes sources based on connection presence; configurable idle timeout for display shutdown.
- Extended-Reach HDBaseT Output — Up to 130m normal mode, 180m ultra mode with BC-UNIKAT cables, to any HDBaseT-certified receiver.
- PoE Output — Powers a compatible remote HDBaseT receiver over the same Cat cable, eliminating local power at the display end.
- HDBaseT Certified — Standard compliant for use with any HDBaseT receiver, not Kramer-exclusive.
- RS-232 and IR Pass-Through — Bidirectional control signal extension over HDBaseT for remote display and device management.
- Analog Audio Auto-Detection and Embedding — Detects 3.5mm analog audio and embeds it into the HDMI output stream automatically.
- Local HDMI Output + Balanced Audio De-Embedding — Direct local display connection and analog audio extraction for room audio systems.
- I-EDIDPro Intelligent EDID Processing — Automatic EDID management with lockable EDID for consistent source handshaking.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Maestro room automation do exactly?
Maestro monitors the DIP-20's inputs for active video signals. When a presenter connects a laptop, Maestro sends display power-on and input selection commands via the RS-232 or IR port on the HDBaseT link. When the source disconnects and an idle timeout expires, Maestro sends display power-off commands, returning the room to standby without operator action.
Does the DIP-20 work with any HDBaseT receiver?
Yes. The DIP-20 is HDBaseT Certified and compatible with any HDBaseT-compliant receiver. It is not limited to Kramer receivers, though Kramer TP-580R and similar receivers pair natively for full feature pass-through.
What is the maximum cable run with BC-UNIKAT cables?
In ultra mode using Kramer BC-UNIKAT cables, the DIP-20 supports runs up to 180 meters (approximately 590 feet) at 1080p@60Hz. At 4K@60Hz (4:2:0), normal mode supports up to 100 meters over standard Cat6/7.
Can the DIP-20 be controlled via a room control system?
Yes. The DIP-20 supports Kramer Protocol 3000 over RS-232 and Ethernet for integration with Kramer Control, Crestron, AMX, and other third-party room control systems.
