Product Overview
The Kramer 691 is an HDBaseT 2.0 fiber optic transmitter for ultra-reach extension of 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) HDMI, USB, Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and stereo audio signals over multi-mode or single-mode fiber optic cable. AV integrators and system designers deploy the 691 in installations where the display is too far from the source for copper HDBaseT — campus buildings, performance venues, government facilities, and inter-building AV links — reaching up to 33km (20.5 miles) over single-mode fiber at full 4K resolution. It converts all input signals into a single HDBaseT 2.0 fiber signal for transmission to a compatible receiver such as the Kramer 692, which converts back to HDMI, USB, Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and stereo audio at the far end. The 691 ships with a multimode OSP+ SFP+ transceiver and supports both multi-mode and single-mode fiber via interchangeable Kramer OSP pluggable SFP+ units.
Product Description
The 691 accepts one HDMI 2.0 input with HDCP 1.4 compliance and passes all HDMI features including deep color, x.v.Color, lip sync, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, 2K, 4K, and 3D. I-EDIDPro Intelligent EDID Processing ensures reliable EDID and CEC pass-through from the display to the source across the fiber link. USB 2.0 extension supports HID peripherals such as keyboards and mice at the remote end; high-bandwidth USB devices such as isochronous cameras are subject to HDBaseT bandwidth management limitations. Ethernet extension flows bidirectionally for IP device control and network-enabled display management across the fiber link. RS-232 extension supports bidirectional serial control of remote devices at the display end. Stereo analog audio can be embedded into the HDBaseT 2.0 signal from a 3.5mm input for rooms with separate audio systems. The 691 uses Kramer's pluggable OSP SFP+ transceiver system — the included multimode transceiver covers runs up to 300m over OM3 fiber, while a separately available single-mode OSP SFP+ extends to 33km. Only Kramer-certified OSP SFP+ units should be used to maintain specified performance and warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What fiber type and connector does the 691 use?
The 691 uses 2 simplex LC fiber strands via the Kramer OSP SFP+ pluggable transceiver. The included multimode transceiver supports OM3 multi-mode fiber for runs up to 300m. Single-mode OSP SFP+ transceivers (available separately from Kramer) extend the range to 33km over SM fiber.
Can the 691 work with non-Kramer HDBaseT receivers?
Yes. The 691 is HDBaseT 2.0 certified and compatible with any market-available HDBaseT-compliant fiber receiver. The Kramer 692 is the recommended pairing receiver for full feature pass-through including USB and Ethernet.
Can I use any SFP+ transceiver in the 691?
No. Kramer requires the use of Kramer-certified OSP SFP+ pluggable optical units to maintain specified performance, support, and warranty. Third-party SFP+ modules are not supported.
Does the 691 support 4K at full 4:4:4 chroma?
The 691 supports 4K@60Hz at 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. For 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 fiber extension, consult the Kramer 675R/T extender kit or contact Creation Networks at https://creationnetworks.net.
What receiver pairs with the 691?
The Kramer 692 is the matching HDBaseT 2.0 fiber receiver for the 691. It converts the fiber HDBaseT 2.0 signal back to HDMI, USB 2.0, Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and stereo audio at the display end.
