What is the Kramer EXT3-H-POE-R HDBaseT 3.0 receiver?

The Kramer EXT3-H-POE-R is a long-reach HDBaseT 3.0 receiver that converts an incoming HDBaseT signal back to 4K@60Hz or 5K@30Hz 4:4:4 HDR HDMI, with bidirectional RS-232 and IR for display control. It covers up to 40m (130ft) at 4K60 or 5K30 and up to 70m (230ft) at 4K30 or 1080p. With symmetrical PoE, the receiver can power, or be powered by, the far end of the link, which simplifies display-side installs where an outlet is not convenient.

How does the Kramer EXT3-H-POE-R work?

The receiver accepts HDBaseT 3.0 over CAT cable and outputs HDMI plus RS-232 and IR control signals. Video arrives uncompressed with near-zero latency at up to 18Gbps, with HDR10, HDCP 2.3, deep color, lossless audio formats, EDID and CEC passed between source and display.

It is a standard HDBaseT extender, backward compatible with other standard HDBT transmitters and with Kramer matrix switchers and switchers that have HDBaseT 3.0 outputs, so it can serve as the display-end unit in larger routed systems.

RS-232 runs both ways at up to 115200 baud without pre-configuration, letting a control system manage a projector or display from the rack. LED status indicators and local firmware upgrades over RS-232 simplify service. The fanless DigiTOOLS enclosure mounts behind a display, above a dropped ceiling or three across in 1U with the recommended rack adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which transmitter pairs with the EXT3-H-POE-R?

Its matching transmitter is the EXT3-H-POE-T. As a standard HDBaseT receiver it also works with other standard HDBT transmitters and Kramer switchers with HDBaseT 3.0 outputs, such as HDBaseT-equipped matrix switchers like the Kramer VS-62DT (HDBaseT, check reach and resolution for the pairing).

Can the receiver power the transmitter?

Yes. Symmetrical PoE allows either end to supply power over the extension cable.

How far will it reach at 4K60?

Up to 40m (130ft) at 4K60 or 5K30 4:4:4, and up to 70m (230ft) at 4K30 4:4:4 or 1080p with Kramer recommended cables.

Can I control the display through it?

Yes. Bidirectional RS-232 and IR extend control from a room controller to the display or projector.

How do I rack mount it?

Three units fit in 1U with the Kramer RK-3T-B rack adapter. For longer 4K runs, compare the Kramer TP-583RXR extended-reach receiver.
