What is the Kramer VSM-4X4A matrix switcher?
The Kramer VSM-4X4A is a 4x4 seamless HDMI matrix switcher and multi-scaler with four scaled HDMI outputs. Besides seamless 4x4 switching with clean frame-to-frame cuts, it can drive a 2x2 or 1x4 video wall or act as a dual (split, PIP, POP) or quad multi-viewer. It packs four scalers into a single 1U rack space for presentation, signage and production applications.
How does the Kramer VSM-4X4A work?
Four HDMI sources feed four independently scaled HDMI outputs using Kramer PixPerfect scaling technology. In matrix mode, any input can be switched to any output with a clean video cut and no glitches. In video wall mode, the unit splits one image across a 2x2 or 1x4 display array, and in dual or quad display modes it composes several sources on one screen.
The VSM-4X4A supports HDMI resolutions with deep color and up to eight channels of audio, with per-port HDCP and EDID settings. Audio is available on embedded HDMI outputs as well as four balanced and four unbalanced stereo outputs with independent volume per output. A built-in ProcAmp adjusts color, hue, sharpness, noise, contrast and brightness. Control options include front-panel buttons, IR remote with on-screen display, RS-232 and Ethernet with built-in web pages, and firmware upgrades run over Ethernet or USB. Typical progressive-input latency is 30ms.
