Product Overview
The K-Array Kayman KY102-EBS is an electronic beam steering column array element built for commercial AV installations where vertical coverage must be shaped digitally rather than mechanically. As a digitally steerable line array element, it uses FIR processing across eight independent amplifier channels to aim acoustic energy precisely at the listening plane, keeping intelligibility high in reverberant rooms. Integrators specify this beam steering column speaker for houses of worship, auditoriums, and government chambers where the loudspeaker must stay visually discreet while delivering up to 138 dB peak SPL. This is the black finish; a white KY102W-EBS version is also available.
Product Description
The KY102-EBS packs eight 4-inch neodymium magnet woofers into a slim stainless steel column just 100 cm tall and under 12 cm wide, so it disappears against columns, prosceniums, and architectural millwork. Unlike the standard Kayman KY102, which sets its vertical beam mechanically, the EBS version processes each of the eight drivers through independent FIR filters, allowing the vertical beam to be steered and shaped in software after the cabinet is mounted. That means installers can mount the column flat and parallel to the wall, then aim coverage at the seating area digitally — no visible tilt brackets and no rework when room layouts change. Each element connects to its dedicated amplification over a 16-wire multicore cable, with K-Array's 8-channel Kommander platform running FIR-EBS firmware handling per-driver processing. An IP65-rated stainless steel enclosure makes the element suitable for demanding indoor environments and outdoor installations alike. Note that connecting and rigging hardware is sold separately, allowing each project to specify the correct wall, pole, or flying accessories.

Key Features
- Electronic Beam Steering via FIR Processing — Each of the eight woofers is processed through an independent FIR filter, letting integrators steer the vertical beam digitally to the exact listening area without tilting the cabinet.
- Eight Independent Amplifier Channels — The 8x 150 W, 8x 4-ohm channel architecture gives the matched Kommander amplification per-driver control for precise coverage shaping.
- 138 dB Peak Output — High SPL capability from a slim column means a single element can cover medium-sized commercial spaces with headroom to spare.
- 120 Hz – 20 kHz Frequency Response (-6 dB) — Wide bandwidth keeps speech and program material natural, with Thunder subwoofers available for full-range extension.
- Slim Stainless Steel Enclosure — At 116 x 1000 x 134 mm and 14.9 kg, the column integrates discreetly into architecture while standing up to demanding environments.
- IP65 Protection — The sealed stainless steel build supports outdoor and high-humidity installations without a separate weather enclosure.
- Flat-Mount Installation — Because aiming happens in software, the column mounts flush and parallel to the wall, simplifying installation and preserving sightlines.
- Black, White, or Custom RAL Finishes — Finish options let the element match interior design specifications on architectural projects.
Typical Applications
- House of worship sanctuaries requiring discreet, intelligible speech reinforcement in reverberant rooms
- Auditoriums where digitally steered vertical coverage must reach raked seating from a flush-mounted column
- Government spaces such as council chambers and hearing rooms with strict aesthetic and intelligibility requirements
- Commercial meeting spaces and all-hands rooms needing high output from a low-profile loudspeaker
- Multi-purpose rooms where coverage can be re-aimed in software as layouts change

Frequently Asked Questions
What amplifier does the Kayman KY102-EBS require?
The KY102-EBS is a passive element designed to operate with K-Array's dedicated 8-channel Kommander amplification running FIR-EBS firmware, which performs the per-driver FIR processing that steers the beam. It is not intended for generic single-channel amplification, since each of the eight 4-ohm drivers needs its own processed channel.
How is the KY102-EBS different from the standard Kayman KY102?
The standard KY102 is a variable beam element whose vertical coverage (7°–30°) is set mechanically, while the KY102-EBS steers its vertical beam digitally through FIR filters on eight independent channels. Choose the EBS version when the column must mount flat to the wall and coverage needs to be aimed or revised in software.
Is connecting and mounting hardware included?
No. Connecting hardware is sold separately so each installation can specify the correct K-Array wall brackets, pole mounts, joining hardware, or fly bars for the project. Contact Creation Networks for help selecting the right rigging accessories.
Can the KY102-EBS be installed outdoors?
Yes. The stainless steel enclosure carries an IP65 rating, making the element suitable for outdoor installations and demanding indoor environments such as natatoriums or coastal venues.
Does the KY102-EBS integrate with AV control systems?
Yes. K-Array's Kommander electronics platform offers integration paths for common commercial control ecosystems, including Q-SYS, Crestron, and Control4 plugins, plus Dante audio networking options on supported amplifiers, so the system fits standard commercial AV integration workflows.
