The DSX500 features twenty-eight 4" full-range loudspeakers and eight 1" horn-loaded dome tweeters, all driven by a sixteen-channel Class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply. This combination ensures reliable, high-quality performance over many years. Loudspeakers are arranged according to JBL’s patented algorithm, optimizing both vertical and horizontal coverage. The dome tweeters enhance high-frequency horizontal dispersion, improving clarity and overall audio fidelity for both speech and music.

Equipped with DDS (Digital Directivity Synthesis) technology, the DSX500 enables precise vertical beam shaping, allowing sound to be directed toward listeners while maintaining even horizontal coverage. The unit also integrates advanced surveillance functions for compliance with Voice Alarm applications. Control and configuration are simplified via JBL’s WinControl software, which provides intuitive adjustment of beam steering, audio processing, and system monitoring. Additional features include 32-bit floating-point DSP, dual line inputs, volume control, and up to 20 seconds of delay. Low-frequency response can be extended with JBL subwoofer systems for full-range performance.
