Product Overview

The JBL Control SB210 is a dual 10" passive subwoofer engineered for commercial-grade low-frequency reinforcement in indoor and outdoor permanent installations. Part of JBL's Control Contractor series, it delivers 122 dB maximum SPL with 400W continuous pink noise power handling from two 250 mm aluminum/ceramic composite cone drivers in a compact, low-profile enclosure. Its fully outdoor-capable design, SonicGuard™ overload protection, and 13 M6 suspension inserts make it a dependable choice for AV integrators specifying a commercial subwoofer for restaurants, museums, sports facilities, and retail environments where weather resistance and reliable long-term operation are required.

Product Description

JBL Control SB210 dual 10-inch passive subwoofer front view

The Control SB210 addresses a common integration challenge: adding impactful low-frequency extension to a distributed background music or foreground sound system without the footprint of a large-format subwoofer. Its dual 10" aluminum/ceramic composite cone drivers are loaded in a compact bass-reflex enclosure that produces 95 dB sensitivity at 1W/1M in half-space, with a usable frequency range of 42 Hz to 200 Hz (-10 dB). That extended upper limit means the SB210 can be high-passed relatively high without a gap in the transition to satellite loudspeakers, simplifying crossover alignment in sub-satellite system designs.

The enclosure is constructed from High Impact PolyStyrene (HIPS) with an internal 8 mm polyurethane co-mold, providing structural rigidity while keeping weight manageable at 17.1 kg (38 lb). The thermoset composite steel grille and full outdoor environmental rating — exceeding MIL-SPEC 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV exposure — means the SB210 can be deployed in covered exterior venues, poolside areas, and high-humidity environments without special enclosures. Available in black or white (-WH) to match Control Contractor satellite loudspeakers.

SonicGuard™ overload protection guards the drivers against thermal and mechanical overload during extended high-level operation, reducing service calls in unattended installations. The 13 M6 suspension inserts support the optional MTC-210UB U-Bracket for wall or ceiling mounting, and the screw-down terminal strips accept bare wire up to AWG 12 / 2.5 mm², accommodating standard commercial installation wiring practices. Optional input modules including the MTC-210T transformer module enable integration with 70.7V and 100V distributed audio systems, with available taps at 250W, 125W, and 62W, making the SB210 compatible with commercial 70V amplification infrastructure. Note: JBL has designated the Control SB210 as a discontinued model — stock availability may be limited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Control SB210 be used in a 70V distributed audio system?
Yes, with the optional MTC-210T input module. This transformer-equipped input module enables integration with 70.7V or 100V commercial distributed audio systems, with wattage taps available at 250W, 125W, 62W, and 31W (70.7V only). The MTC-210T-SAT variant also includes high-pass outputs for satellite loudspeakers.

What satellite loudspeakers pair with the Control SB210?
The SB210 is designed to pair with JBL Control Contractor series satellite loudspeakers, particularly the Control 28-1, Control 29AV-1, and similar 8-ohm models. JBL's Sub-Satellite Application Guide provides recommended crossover settings and amplifier configurations for these pairings.

Is the Control SB210 suitable for permanent outdoor installation?
Yes. The SB210 exceeds MIL-SPEC 810 requirements for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV exposure, and carries an IEC 529 IP-X5 rating. It can be installed in covered outdoor locations, poolside areas, and other semi-exposed environments without additional enclosure protection.

What mounting options are available for the Control SB210?
The enclosure includes 13 M6 suspension inserts supporting the optional MTC-210UB U-Bracket for wall or ceiling-mounted configurations. Floor-standing feet (MTC-210FT) and stacking receptacles (MTC-210RT) are included in the box for ground-stack deployments.

What amplifier power is recommended for the Control SB210?
JBL rates the SB210 at 400W continuous pink noise into 8 ohms. A dedicated subwoofer amplifier channel delivering 400–800W into 8 ohms is appropriate. The SonicGuard™ protection circuit provides driver protection against sustained overload, but proper amplifier sizing remains the recommended approach.

Is the Control SB210 still in production?
JBL has designated the Control SB210 as a discontinued product. Existing stock remains available through authorized distributors, including Creation Networks. Integrators specifying this model for new installations should confirm stock availability before committing to the design.

What is the warranty coverage on the Control SB210?
As a JBL Professional product sold through authorized channels, the Control SB210 carries HARMAN's standard limited warranty. Contact your authorized JBL Professional dealer or visit the HARMAN service portal for warranty registration and coverage details.
