Product Overview

The JBL Control 312CS is a passive 12-inch in-ceiling subwoofer driver built to add low-frequency reinforcement to foreground music systems in commercial AV installations. It delivers reliable bass extension for boardrooms, conference rooms, retail spaces, and restaurants when paired with an external crossover and a dedicated subwoofer amplifier. With a Kevlar-reinforced 12-inch woofer and a 400 W long-term power capacity, this in-ceiling subwoofer integrates discreetly into standard ceiling-grid layouts. It is intended for systems that use active external crossovers and separate subwoofer amplification.

Product Description

The Control 312CS extends the low end of distributed and foreground music systems where a satellite ceiling speaker alone cannot deliver sufficient bass. It uses a 300 mm (12 in) Kevlar-reinforced cone woofer with a 75 mm (3 in) voice coil, providing high power handling and the sensitivity needed for usable in-ceiling output, with a frequency response of 34 Hz to 3.5 kHz. When driven by an 8-ohm power amplifier (sold separately), the driver supports a 400 W long-term power capacity. A removable locking connector offers screw-down terminals for input and loop-thru output, and the built-in EZRail holds the pre-attached baffle in place until it is secured to a backcan (sold separately). Because it is a driver intended for use with active external crossovers and dedicated subwoofer amplification, it integrates cleanly into engineered commercial systems rather than running full-range. Key Features

  • Kevlar-reinforced 12-inch woofer — A 300 mm (12 in) cone with a 75 mm (3 in) voice coil provides durable, high-output low-frequency reproduction.
  • 400 W long-term power capacity — High power handling with high sensitivity supports strong SPL capability when driven by an 8-ohm amplifier.
  • 34 Hz to 3.5 kHz response — Extended low-frequency output for foreground music reinforcement in commercial spaces.
  • EZRail installation system — Holds the pre-attached baffle in place during installation for faster, single-installer mounting.
  • Removable locking connector — Screw-down terminals for input and loop-thru output simplify and secure system wiring.
  • Designed for engineered systems — Intended for use with active external crossovers and a dedicated subwoofer amplifier for controlled low-frequency integration.

Typical Applications

  • Boardroom — Discreet low-frequency reinforcement for high-fidelity foreground music.
  • Conference room — Adds bass extension to ceiling-speaker program audio.
  • Commercial meeting space — Even, full-range coverage in lobbies and gathering areas.
  • Multi-purpose room — Supplements satellite ceiling speakers for varied program material.
  • House of worship — Low-frequency support for distributed ceiling systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Control 312CS require a backcan?
Yes. A backcan (sold separately) is required to complete the installation; the built-in EZRail holds the pre-attached baffle in place until it is secured.

Can it run full-range from a standard amplifier channel?
No. It is a subwoofer driver intended for use with an active external crossover and a dedicated subwoofer amplifier, not full-range operation.

What amplification does it need?
An 8-ohm power amplifier (sold separately) sized for its 400 W long-term capacity, configured behind an active crossover for the low-frequency band.

What warranty and support apply?
The Control 312CS carries JBL Professional's manufacturer warranty. For crossover and amplifier matching support, contact our team or browse the full JBL Professional collection.
