Product Overview

The NETGEAR GS348PP is a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet unmanaged switch with 24 802.3at PoE+ ports and a 380W total power budget. It combines high-density wired connectivity with substantial Power over Ethernet for cameras, access points, and PoE endpoints across large AV installations. The rack-mount metal chassis delivers 96 Gbps of non-blocking switching and requires no configuration. It is built for broadcast studios, auditoriums, and large commercial meeting spaces.

Product Description

The GS348PP 48-port Gigabit PoE+ unmanaged switch provides 48 Gigabit ports, 24 of which support 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30W per port from a shared 380W budget. That capacity lets integrators power a large fleet of access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones while still providing wired drops for non-powered devices, all from a single rack unit. NETGEAR's PoE power auto-balance and allocation technology distributes power based on each device's actual demand rather than detected class. All 48 ports auto-negotiate speed and use Auto-MDI/MDIX, so no crossover cables are needed.

The rugged metal chassis is rack-mountable with the included kit and uses two fans for active cooling under high PoE load. With 96 Gbps of non-blocking fabric bandwidth, an 8K MAC address table, and a 1.5 MB packet buffer, it forwards dense AV-over-IP and data traffic at wire speed. Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) reduces consumption on idle links. As an unmanaged plug-and-play device, it begins forwarding and powering devices as soon as it is connected, and it standardizes well with the broader NETGEAR switch collection for layered deployments. The 380W budget makes it a strong fit for facilities consolidating many powered endpoints onto one switch.

Key Features

  • 24 PoE+ Ports (802.3at) — Delivers up to 30W per port to access points, cameras, and VoIP endpoints.
  • 380W Total PoE Budget — Powers a large fleet of edge devices from a single rack-mount switch.
  • 48 Gigabit Ports — High-density wired connectivity for powered and non-powered devices alike.
  • 96 Gbps Non-Blocking Fabric — Wire-speed switching across all ports simultaneously.
  • PoE Power Auto-Balance — Allocates power dynamically based on real device demand.
  • 1U Rack-Mount Form Factor — Fits a standard 19-inch rack with the included kit; dual-fan cooling under load.
  • Plug-and-Play Setup — No configuration required; forwards and powers devices on power-up.
  • 8K MAC Table and 1.5 MB Buffer — Handles dense AV-over-IP and data traffic at wire speed.

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast studios powering and connecting cameras, encoders, and access points from one rack unit
  • Auditoriums distributing PoE to ceiling cameras and wireless coverage across a large venue
  • Commercial meeting spaces consolidating powered AV endpoints and wired drops on a single switch
  • House of worship facilities powering cameras, displays, and APs throughout a large hall
  • Training rooms and all-hands rooms requiring many powered and non-powered connections

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ports supply PoE?
24 of the 48 Gigabit ports supply 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30W each, drawing from a shared 380W budget. The remaining 24 ports are standard Gigabit data ports.

Is the GS348PP managed?
No. It is a fully unmanaged plug-and-play switch with no VLANs, GUI, or command line. It forwards traffic and powers PoE devices as soon as it is connected.

Can it power a full set of access points and cameras?
Within the 380W budget, yes. Each PoE+ port supplies up to 30W, but the combined draw across all powered ports must stay within 380W, so plan device counts against that total.

Does it support AV-over-IP multicast?
It forwards multicast at wire speed but, being unmanaged, does not provide IGMP snooping. Multicast-intensive AV-over-IP designs that need multicast filtering should use a managed switch at that layer.

How is it cooled and mounted?
The switch uses two internal fans to manage heat under high PoE load and ships with a rack-mount kit for a standard 19-inch rack (1U). Allow for the deeper 310 mm chassis when planning rack depth.

What warranty and support are included?
The GS348PP carries a 3-year hardware warranty with 90 days of free technical support from the date of purchase, and extended ProSUPPORT plans are available.
