Product Overview

XTP II FR 401 8K SM (Singlemode), part number 60-1527-22. The Extron XTP II FR 401 8K is a two-input 8K fiber optic receiver that extends video with embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fiber optic cables. It supports data rates up to 40.1 Gbps for HDMI resolutions up to 8K/60, including 5K for Microsoft Teams rooms. In addition to the XTP fiber input, a local HDMI input accepts a nearby source such as a laptop or a ShareLink Pro wireless collaboration gateway, with auto-switching between the two. Multimode and singlemode versions match the installed fiber plant.

Product Description

At the display end of a long fiber run, the requirement is rarely just to receive a signal. The room usually also has a local source, a laptop connection at a credenza, a wireless collaboration gateway, or a room PC, and adding a switcher next to the display to handle it defeats the purpose of a compact receiver.

The XTP II FR 401 8K includes a local HDMI input alongside the XTP fiber input and switches between them automatically. That covers the common case directly: remote content arrives on fiber, local content plugs in at the display, and the room does not need a second box.

Transport carries video with embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fibers, so display control and a network drop reach the remote position on the same infrastructure as the video. Signal support is HDMI 2.1 with HDCP 2.3 at data rates up to 40.1 Gbps.

Resolution support covers 7680x4320 at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma and 10-bit color, 4:4:4 at 30 Hz, 4096x2160 at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 and 12-bit, and 3840x2160 at 120 Hz for high frame rate work. Chroma sampling of 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 is supported at 8, 10, or 12 bits per color.

Two versions are offered: multimode (60-1527-21) for in-building and campus runs, and singlemode (60-1527-22) for longer multi-building and metro distances. Pair with the Extron XTP II FT 402 8K transmitter, or feed from XTP II CP Fiber 8K output boards in a matrix frame.

Key Features

  • XTP fiber and local HDMI inputs — Accepts the remote fiber feed plus a local HDMI source, with automatic switching between them.
  • 8K/60 over fiber — Supports HDMI resolutions up to 7680x4320 at 60 Hz at data rates to 40.1 Gbps.
  • Video, control, and network together — Extends video with embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fiber cables.
  • Local source support — The HDMI input suits a laptop connection or a ShareLink Pro wireless collaboration gateway at the display end.
  • 4K/120 capability — Supports 3840x2160 at 120 Hz for high frame rate applications.
  • 5K Teams room support — Handles 5K resolutions used in Microsoft Teams room layouts.
  • Deep Color support — Up to 12 bits per color at 4K, subject to the maximum data rate.
  • HDCP 2.3 compliant — Maintains protected content paths for both the remote and local sources.
  • Multimode and singlemode versions — Two part numbers match the installed fiber plant for campus or metro distances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a receiver have a local input?

Because the display end usually has its own source. A laptop at the credenza or a wireless collaboration gateway plugs into the local HDMI input, and the receiver auto-switches between it and the remote fiber feed, so the room does not need a separate switcher.

How many fibers does a link use?

Two per link, carrying video, embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet together.

Which fiber mode should I order?

Match the transmitter and the installed plant. Multimode (60-1527-21) covers in-building and campus runs; singlemode (60-1527-22) covers longer multi-building and metro distances.

What resolutions does it support?

Up to 8K/60 at 40.1 Gbps, 4K at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 and 12-bit color, and 4K at 120 Hz for high frame rate work. Chroma sampling of 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 is supported.

What feeds this receiver?

Either the Extron XTP II FT 402 8K transmitter for a point-to-point link, or XTP II CP Fiber 8K output boards in an XTP II matrix frame for a switched system.

Does the Ethernet extension provide a usable network drop?

It extends 1 Gbps Ethernet to the receiver position. Confirm the switch-side configuration and IP addressing during design so the extended segment behaves as intended on your network.

What is the availability?

Extron lists this model as call for availability. Contact Creation Networks and we will confirm current lead time for your quantity.
